# About me
i've been a metalsmith since the early 1990's with a background as a machinist. my work reflects the time i spent in the machine shop and has an industrial feel to it. most of the pieces i create are made from stainless steel or titanium. while i have the training to work in the more traditional jewelry materials such as silver or gold, i have put the torch and solder away for a while to focus on the machines i enjoy using as a machinist.# Comments

my favorite thing about most of your work is that the designs are so simple (at least visually) and clean. thats one thing i don't like about jewelery at the typical jewelery store and other places, its seems like its all about complicated designs and packing as many gemstones in as possible. my two favorite pieces from you are ring a day 65 and the ring similar to this one only with a rectangular blue gem. both are simple and clean, and one doesnt even have a gem at all. anyways, amazing work! can't wait for more.

I want to buy one of your pendants ( undecided ). I looked on your webpage but I want one of three that are not in the 32 items your selling. I am looking at, the aids fundraiser pendent, charity(that one look out of price range), or break in case of. Please tell me you can help.

charity and break in case of both have diamonds, and run in the $300-$400 range. the cost of the fundraiser pendant depends on the stone used. send me a note if you want to discuss options.

Thank you so much for the award of a devwatch.
I am writing a book at the moment which is taking up most of my time as far as work is concerned; so i am not uploading much in the way of knotting work; just a few tutorials and help for folks asking about knotty subjects or problems. I will try to make your watch worthwhile... but be aware that it will take 3 or 4 months more to finish the book so...
In any case thank you again for the honour of being on your watchlist and I wish you the very best of luck with your work and your world.
Bye for now,
Peter.

I really enjoy your work - it's elegant but sturdy. The use of uncut stones and screws in some of your rings and pendants are really quite inspiring. Thanks for putting your work on DA.

thank you very much! i love what i do, so when i get feedback from someone who says such kind things, it makes it even more meaningful.
i took a look at your gallery, and you've got some great work, too. the pill bug earrings are fantastic! what are the dimensions? how long have you been metalsmithing?

Thank you. The Pill Bug earrings are about 3/4 of an inch all around, and the ear wires are about an inch - it's difficult to say, I sold them a while ago.
I haven't been metalsmithing for a very long time - I'm a sophomore in college. I major in 3D, and my focus is in jewelry and metals. I started my sophomore year in high school, and I took a metals class because it looked interesting. Turned out to be one of the most difficult, frustrating, and time-consuming classes that I ever took, and I fell in love with it - I took a class ever semester since then and went to school for it.
I still have a lot to learn, and sometimes it's discouraging to be an art major, but when I log onto sites like this and see work like yours and other artist, It's encouraging. So thanks.

if you're a metalsmith, it's in your blood. somehow it finds you, then never leaves you. i'm always learning new techniques or better ways to do things. that's part of what i love about it. i can be discouraging, but if you do what you love, it will show in your work and people will appreciate it.
keep it up...i know i'll be watching!
