# About me

Society 6 Shop

Hello all, nice to meet you!

I'm an amateur, largely self-taught artist working in traditional media. I favor acrylic paint, used watercolor style, but occasionally will roll out some colored pencils or crayons. Also apparently charcoal is a thing I do now?

The drawings you will find here include lots of fan art illustrations, some original characters of my own, and some collaborations with friends. For instance:

Doctor Who: New Who and Classic alike. I'm still watching my way through Classic Who, but I adore it. Overall, I draw a lot of Ten and Eight. Also, Doctor/Rose shippiness happens.

Harry Potter: mostly book based. (Okay, let's be honest, mostly Lupin and Tonks.)

Other books/tv/movies: Lots of the Amelia Peabody series, some Prydain Chronicles, some Disney animation, other things various and sundry. If I had the time and the talent, I would draw everything I read and watch, constantly.

Collaborations with : My friend Jen writes historical fiction set in WWI, and I draw things for her. See her page for our graphic novel pages, and stay for her excellent writing.

I don't tend to thank people individually for favourites, but that's not because I don't appreciate them! My view on favs is that they are between you and the art, and if you want to actively engage the artist, you'll comment instead. I'm also pretty shy, so sometimes I wait to speak until I'm spoken to. But I'm always happy to make friends!

My time on dA predates my tumblr by quite a bit, so if you find a picture here that isn't on my blog and you'd like to see it tumbl'ing around, please send me a note either here or there.

Eeep, I've just realised: although Eight's new boots look awesome, their existence means his favourite shoes are now gone.

I wonder what became of them? I wonder if, as he took them off, probably changing in a hurry, he remembered how he first came across them and paused for a moment. After all that's happened and the Time War raging and all, he probably hasn't thought back to those early happy days in ages, and now - just for a moment - he does. He remembers that the shoes are the last and only thing he still has connecting him to those days. He takes them off all the same though; they’re impractical to keep now, just like those old memories…

holy crap, sad meta about Eight's shoes from the movie.

I need a moment.

I mean I guess it's possible they served their lifetime and were retired to the wardrobe room after getting worn out from lots of running? (I mean really Ten is probably the only Doctor who is crazy enough to run around the universe with no arch support, right?)Β  I think there's a line in Storm Warning about shoes that are not waterproof, but I choose to believe that it does not refer to The Perfectly Fitting Shoes.

Good traditional artists are pretty much facing extinction and rare and lovely to find. Loving all your Doctor/Rose arts and your appreciation for Eight and Grace. You're quite welcome! Your stuff is totally gorgeous.

Actually I haven't tried colored pencils in a while - all my newer stuff is acrylic paint. I try to remember to note the medium in the description but on fan art I often get too distracted by geeking out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rozdraws In reply to oboe-wan [2012-07-19 19:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

I haven't done much in the way of painting with acrylic. I paint mostly with gouache. My next project will likely be acrylic thoug. Gouache is really water soluble and makes it nearly impossible to layer unless you use no water (making it kindof sticky. It dries almost immediately.) I might have to try watered down acrylic after though. Sounds interesting.

And I totally get what you mean about geeking out. I was giggling like a schoolgirl working on that picture of Chris Eccleston. I actually had to take a break from it because my husband kept looking at me like "wtf?".

Yay for geekery :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

oboe-wan In reply to rozdraws [2012-07-19 20:56:50 +0000 UTC]

Acrylics + water is similar to watercolors, but for some reason I'm tons more comfortable with acrylics than with actual watercolors. I should be brave and experiment sometime! I do like the flexibility of being able to use the acrylics straight out of the tube if you want a really thick consistency, or mix in acrylic medium for transparency.

Yay indeed!
