unfortunately none of my friends have a bass, that's why they wanted me to start playing, so I could be join their band. i guess i'll go for a few lessons, make my parents buy it, and then stop going by making some stupid excuse like i have to study or something, lol. that way, the only thing i would have learnt by my teacher would be a lil bit of the basics, that all. and then i could just practice practice practice by myself and develop my own style.

very nice. Tips? practice practice practice.. try learn any and all songs you like, practice as often as you can.. what worked for me is becos alot of my time is on my computer i have my guitar here so i have it in my hands and when im not doing anything ill just play something random etc.. yeeeeh :p (Lick)

taught myself.. i started takign lessons at school after a few months of learning. i really think that if you start getting lessons your gonna start playing as your teachers style and not develop your own. but hey, whatever works for you .

yeah i don't wanna be a copy of someone, but the problem is that my stupid parents won't buy me a bass cuz they think i'm gonna give it up after a few weeks. it's so fucking annoying!! they want me to go for lessons first, then see if i actually like it and then MAYBE they'll buy me one. i see their point but i still find it annoying.

yeah. well what I did was borrow my friends bass for a few weeks. You would probably also find that you could rent one from somewhere for a bit. Taking lessons for a few weeks really isnt goign to make you decide.. YOu really need to have it with you for a bit and muck around with it.
