The answer to that is somewhat long winded... What kind of information are you looking for? I'd be happy to answer any questions.
But "what does it take" kind of depends on where you're starting from and what kind of DJ you want to be.

There a couple "DJ Schools". I personally didn't go to one though and I don't actually know anyone who has. I taught myself and learned from other DJs who were willing to give me pointers.
I started out at the bottom of the pile doing weddings and graduations. Made friends with some people in the rave/party scene and got a couple opening spots... As time went on and I got better I got a weekly residency at a club on Tuesday nights... And made even more contacts as I perfected my technique and style, and now I do weekend gigs here and there.
It took a number of years to get into clubs and took a lot of practice and networking.

Depending on the type and severity of the epilepsy it could be a problem. Thee common seizure triggers are flashing lights, stress and late nights with lack of sleep. All three of these things are encountered on a regular basis by DJs.
It might not be as big of a problem if doing weddings or graduations as they are not as late, stressful, and usually have very little or no lighting... but in clubs and at raves it could be a problem.
