Joanna Bowżyk.I'm fifteen years old and I moved to England two days after my eleventh birthday.
Photography hasn't always been my passion. I'm not one of those people who were born with a mission to have a camera hanging off their neck at all times. I always appreciated photography, but haven't thought about it in a way I do now. As I got older, I began to realise how much I adore the art captured in a photo, and when I was nearly thirteen I decided I want to be one of the people that have their work displayed.
I believe that my photos have been a true struggle, effort, and progress. I saved up for my DSLR for over six months. All the money that went into it, was mine. I hadn't had a generous uncle who spontaneously gave me a hundred quid to help me get there sooner, neither have I had any help from parents, grandparents, or my sister.
Usually I need reassurance that I'm good at what I'm doing; after all, part of my dream is to have my work appreciated by others. When I don't get feedback, I doubt my skills and loose faith, though I try to fight that. But even if I decide I'm useless, nature calls out to me and I simply can't keep my hands off my beloved camera.
I'm a deep thinker, though most people don't realise that; that includes those that are closest to me. Normally I need to point it out for others to realise how much I analyse and go through in deep detail.
I'm generally a positive person, whose humour is based around sarcasm - which ends up in people not getting my jokes if they're not very experienced - and I treasure everything I have: a loving family, an adorable cat, amazing friends, and easy access to chocolate at hard times. Depending on the surroundings, situation and people I'm with, I am quite a daredevil, and most of the time it gets me into trouble, or making stupid mistakes or a fool out of myself.
The most precious possession of mine is my orange iPod nano. I named it Charlie and I take him with me everywhere. I would DIE if I lost him.
