Any tips for a newbie at MH OOAK dolls? I'm gaining supplies right now and I've been reading guides and tutorials and taking notes. Your dolls are amazing so I'd thought I'd ask someone who knows what they're doing.

Thank you! I am more than happy to help a fellow customiser There is several different ways of working on MH's and it all falls down to you finding what works best for you. I have a mix in media from paint, pastels and water colour pencils. Anything you want to know just ask!

Okay, well do you do whole body repaints? Like spray paint? Because I'm trying to find brands that people find work well for both the vinyl heads and plastic bodies. Also how do you remove factory paint from the bodies?

okay for removing paint i use "goo gone extreme" but i would recommend doing some research as it can be a strong chemical. I always do it in well ventilated area's with a mask on and i use gloves. It will remove any paint from the face but if you use it on the body it can melt at the plastic, so be quick on the body but the face will be fine. I always wash the bodies and face as soon as i am done to make sure there is no residue. I also use cotton buds to remove and it usually takes a fair few. Also keep it in the tin and pop the cotton bud to the spout as it can and will evaporate. If you need to put it in something use a old glass you can throw away. It will melt plastic! Another way is to use acetone or nail varnish remover. You want to find pure acetone if you can. It can spread the paint about but keep working till you get it all off. I find wiping works so work on little bits at a time. Don't go at it in circular motions as it will make a real mess. Work nice and slowly and wipe bit by bit.
When it comes to repaints of the body i use paints. I use acrylic and i use a base coat in white. You can then work on top in any colour and it gets a grip on the base i find. I have also used enamel toy paints as they are non toxic and made especially for toys. The annoying part is no matter what you do the joints can and will rub. You can try topping it up but if the dolls get modelled or moved they will loose paint on the joint parts. Another way is to paint a base and then on top using pastels. I did this with my Kerli repaint. I did a white base then painted a light skin tone and worked in the more realistic tones using skin coloured pastels and sealed her using "Mr Super Clear - MSC spray" again toxic so spray outside in a well ventilated area with a mask! Also only use it when it's dry outside and allow it to dry before touching or moving. It is a fantastic product that can seal and also be used to create a toothed base. It will take pastels and pencil and thens seal them off again. It is a fantastic product for both the face and body!

I bought some chalk pastels for blush spots and stuff. Do you have any site that you would recommend for Mr.Super Clear? And do you use the regular Flat super clear or UV? Sorry about the questions, i'm so eager to get started but I want to make sure I know as much as possible

I am UK based so i had to get mine from a hobby shop. I know you can buy it online but it has to be sent via surface mail to certain parts of the world. I know people use other types of sprays and sealer. My Mr Super Clear is UV cut.
I know of a fantastic customiser called No Nap Time that has some really detailed blog pages on customising dolls. I will add a ink at the bottom of this comment for you. She uses various supplies and from what i know can be found at hobby shops. She breaks down her tools and materials really nicely for you.
