As far as alternate reality goes I have now joined alternatehistory.com. One of the reasons why I haven't posted much here recently is spending all my time reading interesting posts on that forum! Does your interest in 'alternate reality' extend wider than alt-history?

By alternate reality, do you mean as in "Doctor Who"-style bizarre world's?

Incidently, if you are interested in brief alternate history scenarios DeviantArt has quite a few good ones. Among my favourites are OttoVonSuds, RVBoMally, QuantumBranching and RoyalPsycho.

Tony Jones Alternate History has some excellent directory-style alternate histories where one can examine individual countries/overall society, politics, etc.

By alternate reality I suppose I mean ASB-ish, science-fiction-y worlds rather than straight alternate history. I like them both.

Thanks for the recommendations. I hadn't heard of Tony Jones Alternate History at all, but I will certainly investigate.

As I keep reminding everyone, the original idea was CuteKathy's; I just took it and ran with the idea, perhaps taking it in a slightly different direction. I hope you found all the Korean names convincing!

Thank you! This is another fascinating world, and it would seem logical that New Korea takes place in a world where Korea is already a major power [as part of the Three Dragons alliance]. However I must emphasise that New Korea is 'owned' by CuteKathy. She invented it (even if she hasn't done anything in it recently, unfortunately), and the rest of us follow her lead, with a few tweaks. It seems to me that she's set it in the modern world - after the Korean War, with Korea divided, etc. I did a cap with the Kims in North Korea overthrown by a military revolution, which then goes into alliance with the South.

So I don't think ottovonsuds's world fits - though if I'd developed the idea from scratch, I would be very inclined to use it.

I am grateful you did even though I don't understand the whole llama thingie.  At some point do the llamas become part of a farm?  And i cash them in for manatees? And, then some people have other icons other than llamas.
