Hey there,
I'm a PHD student from the Netherlands.
I would very much like to use the photo of your statue "Frailty" as the cover for my final dissertation on rituals of the elderly in rest and nursing homes. I think it is an incredibly strong image, both beautiful and grotesque, that perfectly depicts what I encountered during my research.
Could you please let me know if I can use it. It goes without saying that you will be mentioned clearly as the creator, of course.

You know any particularly good pieces by lenora carrington by chance?
Her subject matter, is more ambigous but has an undlining theme most all of the the time, usually mytholtical.
Her stuff's inspired by an older time period also, if don't already know of her.

who are some of your favorite surreal artists?
would you say any of your work is inspired or eqse of an artist you enjoy?
I ask cause I'm getting into surrealism a little more so I'm trying to gather more about it.

I'm not much for surrealist painting, as it often seems a bit contrived, gimmicky, and reliant on elaborate self-important personal mythology to me. However, my two favorite filmmakers would be considered surreal- Alejandro Jodorowsky & Jan Svankmajer. A great contemporary photographer I would consider surrealist is Joel-Peter Witkin.
Zdzislaw Beksinski is a contemporary surreal artist that paints really creepy structures and figures, and his work is fun to look at. In terms of classic surrealist artists, I like Max Ernst and Magritte better than Dali & Tanguy.
my recent work is most influenced by Kazimir Malevich & Francis Bacon. Bacon would be good to look at too- not a surrealist exactly but something like it and (imo) much better

I prefer surreal stuff with abstract subject matter however. I'm turned on by freemason and bonesmen pictography.
