and an adoptable is pretty much a design, or group for more than one, that a person will make and either sell of give away to other people, and then the character belongs to the person who "adopts" the design.

I mean, if I own it, and I want my character with bunny clothes, you have to draw it with the bunny clothes?
in parts it makes sense for sure, and it also looks really fun :3

well, after you adopt the character, he or she is yours to draw or do whatever you please with.
generally you just have to credit the person you adopted them from, whether you give credit the first time you draw the character or all the times.
a custom would be adding clothing or making an adoptable for someone upon request.
