It did make me smile. I just saw this message today, I was close to going to bed so it's a nice way to end the day.
Thank you

Oh good! I do love to make people smile. Smiling before bed makes dreams so much better.

And I realize that makes me sound so .. blonde and sickenly giddy. Believe me, I'm not really like that. I do like to be positive though.

phreak-of-nature In reply to mindilina [2008-04-03 22:57:58 +0000 UTC]

I didn't think you were being sickeningly giddy, I try to have as many thoughts along those lines as possible. It keeps me being my normal chipper self. If you know me in real life, you'd realize that was a joke.
I'm fairly upbeat IRL, but I pride myself on being stoic, yup, another joke KILLED by over-explanation.

mindilina In reply to phreak-of-nature [2008-04-04 16:56:09 +0000 UTC]

And what does real life have to do with the internet? Since our chance of meeting IRL are getting cozy up with ZERO, we can be whoever we want to be right here. And today *ponders for a moment* I'm going to be mildly interesting, but always on the hunt for more pageviews. When really, I'd much rather be entertaining and getting lots of comments. Decent comments (and compliments!) are much better than pageviews, anyday.

But this is always like me .. talking too much and saying too little.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phreak-of-nature In reply to mindilina [2008-04-04 20:25:14 +0000 UTC]

Just because we live hundreds of miles away from each other doesn't mean we'll never meet in real life. There's always the possibilities of worm-holes, random portals and aliens. Okay, okay the odds of any of these happening is not worth mentioning, but if I ever create teleportals I'll be sure to meet you just so I have one more person I can hand a hearty 'told-you-so' to.

The real life me is so much very more boring that I'd just use my portals for collapsing the government and creating oceans in space.

I see what you mean about talking/typing a lot without saying much of anything. I like it though.

mindilina In reply to phreak-of-nature [2008-04-04 22:59:02 +0000 UTC]

Well we might end up being very good friends then, with all this randomness and excessive typing. And after that, you might end up meeting me, someday. Who knows, I might already know you, since I don't know where you are from.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phreak-of-nature In reply to mindilina [2008-04-06 18:06:12 +0000 UTC]

I could see being friends, or at least people who BRUTALLY critique each others art while poking playful fun at each others abilities. I live in the upper-midwest, so if you have an ocean in driving range, we don't live near each other. But that's safer for you, because I am wicked boring in real life, as I mentioned.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mindilina In reply to phreak-of-nature [2008-04-06 19:56:55 +0000 UTC]

Happily, I DO live within an hour of the ocean. I mean, happy for me, since I love the ocean. Hmmm .. well then I'm glad to know you here then, because you are actually rather entertaining.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phreak-of-nature In reply to mindilina [2008-04-06 22:52:10 +0000 UTC]

Despite my appearances, I'm fairly observant. I think somewhere in your profile or art pieces you mentioned you lived in a particular state. That information was cataloged so that I may stalk you should I ever venture close enough to the ocean to see what people look like with natural tans.

I am also glad to know you because you seem interesting and sincere. If there is one thing to be said about midwestern states it is that we are all far too subtle in our conversations. I wouldn't DREAM of asking someone for a glass of water if I were thirsty, but if they don't offer me a glass while I'm thirsty they're a crappy host(ess) anyhow.
The laws of social protocol are messed up. I learned this while speaking with another person from the coast. When she left here, she immediately went to CA. We're an odd bunch, or so I'm told.

Think of conversations with me as a lesson in alternative social diplomacy.

I'll take a look at the poems shortly. I've been busy with my projects as well. Namely the comic Jet Set Geek which will be switched to the new site shortly. For now it resides on a smackjeeves account while the characters are available on my Jet Set Geek-Deviant Art account.

It may be a few days but I'll read them.

Sorry - I've got some good ones that I need to post. Most have been the hopeless ramblings of a lovelorn boy, but, I've got some that I really like.

My novel has been taking up a lot of my writing time, though.

Thank you very much.

Sadly, my "phreakiness" is mostly limited to the fact that the name is based on a character I wrote in high school. I know some of the theory and read Mitnick's book, which is one of the bases for my novel. If I had to test myself a great deal of my ability would rely on social engineering, although I would have no problem building any box with coherent design specs.

On my PC's I run WinLite and on my Mac I run Tiger.

I read your "Not-So Adventure in Jackson", I liked the quick progression. I noticed you do a really good job of conveying attitude and feeling through dialouge, that's tough and you did a great job.

Oh...I didn't realized that you'd replied to me until I (narcissistically) googled my own screenname and found your page. My forte is more at small electronics. For example, I live in a college town where there are lots of apartments. In most of them, one has to punch a number into the keypad for the door to open. I, however, decided to try something and lo, the you could actually program the device from the number pad available for any and all to see. To me, that's funny.

I stumbled into coding by admiring the way that a guy whom I adored programed his calculator to help him on tests my eighth grade year. I saved up and bought the newest TI model and went on from there.

I researched more on the aforementioned book, and realized that Markoff and the other took unfair advantage of Mitnick's situation. They threw in some nonsense about how Mitnick's father left him and his mother on their own, like that has any relevance to the story.

Lawl, I just realized that I'm writing in essay in your Deviant Comments. Sorry 'bout that.

moralofthestory In reply to phreak-of-nature [2007-05-24 13:17:18 +0000 UTC]

I haven't read Mitnick's book yet, but I have read a highly romanticized version of his capture. It's co-authored by NY Times journalist John Markoff and Tsutomu Shimomura. It's the story of Tsutomu, who is a Unix hacker and got millions of dollars worth of source code and software stolen from his systems by Mitnick. It's a great read. Very dense, but I love it. I'm about halfway through.

Do you code at all, or do you just use the internet?
