Your very welcome! Do you work with Brian alot?
What kinda camera are you looking at getting?

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-19 02:01:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm his designated guinea pig for any of his new ideas and equipment. it's a lot of fun and we both get some pretty cool images from it.
I've looked around and I've decided that I want a Canon EOS digital rebel XTI.
why? I don't know, it just looks cool and any image I see coming from one usually turns out really nice. XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-19 05:22:50 +0000 UTC]

Haha so cool! You do a fantastic job. Would love to work with you and Brian sometime. Brian is helping me a little on pointers. Would be fun though.

I am looking at getting the Xt or XtI myself. I don't have a job though so I'm gonna have to hold off.
Have you looked on craigslist at all? Someone in my area was selling the XTI standard kit for $450.
I'd get it myself but gotta watch the money. Good luck!

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-19 06:35:15 +0000 UTC]

that'd be fun, I love working with new people!
Yeah me being a poor college student with no job, I'm gong to have to wait and save up to get one. some guy was selling a 5D with a bunch of lenses for $1200 a while back (knocking off 4 grand off the actual price of everything) but alas I haven't had that much money at one time for sooooo long.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-20 18:04:10 +0000 UTC]

Well that cool you like working with new people
Where are you going to school? Whats your major?
Yeah waiting for it all is hard. That deal sounded like a steal to! O well the more we wait the better upgrades will come out.
I have a few good ideas for shoots in the back of my head. I don't have any equipment though so I don't know how i should do things or if I should just hold it off til I get a DSLR.

Your married to right?
With that and school you must be busy!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-20 18:31:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah I go to LCC, no major just yet. I'm just going to get an associate of arts degree so I can transfer to the U of O.
well talk to brian about it, I'm not sure how he'd feel about letting others use his equipment if you wanted.
and yeah I am married, and yes I am bus as all get out. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-20 19:13:37 +0000 UTC]

Thats cool though!
Do you want to do something with arts as a career? Teaching?
I'm not looking to borrow equipment and my little canon powershot can't do alot. I'm just saying I am a little limited with just pointing and shooting lol. I won't complain though this little camera has gotten me some great shots!
Congratulations on your marriage! You are riding a full bus!
How long have you been married for? Any young ones yet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-21 02:38:00 +0000 UTC]

you know, you're probably the tenth person who's mentioned teaching as a career choice. I know someday, some kid is going to talk back to me, I'm going to snap and smack the kid across the room. so if anything, I'll just teach a college course. If I ever get my photography off the ground, I might get into that as a career.
I've been married a little over a year now, I don't want to even plan on having kids until I'm 25.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-21 03:51:31 +0000 UTC]

lol I simply just asked the question. Thats funny though.
You just don't have patience like that if someone talked back to you?
A college course might be fun to teach!
I would love to totally get into photography as a career myself. I also know its a really hard field to get into.
You can do it though! For me I just don't know if my stuff is good enough and if I want to get married someday I gotta think and start now.

Waiting to have kids later is a good idea. Gives you both time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-21 06:30:03 +0000 UTC]

well I'm a REALLY patient person but if my whole career is having to deal with kids or teenagers who are difficult either way, it won't be too long before I go nuts. That's why I hold so much respect for teachers even when I was in school and in my whole punk rock phase, I was never rude to my teachers because they didn't deserve it and they got enough crap from other kids.
Yeah if I ever made photography my career, I'd rather it wasn't just as a portrait photographer at sears. I'd probably do weddings or something and use that to fund my hobby projects.
We're always our worst critic, your work is just as good as mine so shush. plus I work with a dinky point and shoot too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-22 01:13:54 +0000 UTC]

I totally agree with you on the teaching situation.
When I was at the public high school my sr. year ( I was home schooled) their were plenty of trouble makers in my classes. You gotta feel bad for the teachers. Thats cool you were never rude and showed respect. My art teacher really liked having me. Thats what makes it fun though.

Yeah I agree wedding photography would be way cooler then sears portraits. Traveling around the world would be cool too.
Its true we are our own worst critics. Thank you for the support. I've been told its not the camera that always makes good art it the mind behind it.
Cheers to dinky point and shoots for now!
Are the colors on the leaves changing alot where you are at? They are barely changing here =[
I want to go down to the Japanese garden and check that out. I bet fall is a great time to go there.

my math skills suck because my mom didn't feel like teaching me and I had little to no social interaction with kids my age, but other than that, i loved it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-22 06:35:03 +0000 UTC]

I was real bad at math myself. Even if it was taught right.
I am sorry you missed out on the social interaction We were involved with a big group of home schoolers at the church. The mom's would all take turns teaching a class on Thursdays.
Do you have more friends etc, nowdays?

piketheperson In reply to StrengthInWeakness [2008-10-22 09:22:24 +0000 UTC]

oh yeah just half a year in public school and I made a ton of friends, going to LCC I keep my social life fairly decent.

StrengthInWeakness In reply to piketheperson [2008-10-22 18:38:48 +0000 UTC]

Thats really cool! When I was there for half a year at southridge I made a few friends and got along with everyone but I was always the outside kid looking in persay. Outside of school I never hungout with anyone.
Its good to keep the social life going! We'll have to hangout one of these days

Aye, goodluck with getting your hands on a digital camera. it's a bitch that cameras cost so much. i really wanted a manual camera, and my mom just found one that she bought back in 1984 in the basement so i'm one happy fuck . only problem is learning how to use the damned thing...
Yeah, gelatin sounds good, i've heard of people using that before.
Hehe, thankyou for liking my work. X)
