Hey, are you still here? It's Solyndra.. I know it's been a very long time, but I lost the password to my old account and I had made it on an old hotmail account.. which I hardly ever used and then got suspended. *siigh* I got so fed up I left dA again, although now a part of me has persuaded me to come back. I of course could've mailed, but I'm a silly person and didn't think of that till just now..

yep. felt like you owed you an explanation. and an apology. I'm sorry.

Hi Solyndra!
yep, I am still here, I haven't given up DA so far
You've set a new account, that's good Yeah, I racked my brains what had happened to you because I hadn't got any message from you for ages! I just thought you didn't have time to subscribe or sth because of UNI, but here you are again

That's OK! I'm not that kind of person to feel offended. I completely understans there this period of resting from various chatrooms, websites etc. You shall be forgiven! ;3 (joke).

What's new? How's second term? Exam session is getting closer snd closer and I'm going mad! My friend also involved me in a project which bases on translating English/Polish website into Chinese one so I'm starting from July! (that's amazon.com-like website). It will also count as my internship which is a must-do in my UNI. That's exciting! ;3

Hey!

Haha.. I give up on drawing first usually, then dA. I hope that this time I can continue with drawing, I feel it takes my mind off things.. which is why I'm back. It is true though, uni is very busy and that prohibited me from drawing (which in turn keeps me away from dA, although that also had to do with the account frustration.. this is the last time I'm racking my brains for a new password, I'm telling ya) but it is very unkind of me to just drop off the radar like that. Sadly, I've found out this year, this is a particular talent of mine. Which.. you already know I guess, since I pulled that trick on you twice already. =/

Please believe me when I say it was nothing personal. You're absolutely lovely, I would not do something against you on purpose.

Well, what's new for me.. uni is okay, wonderful group of friends, quite a lot of work.. next year I'm going to study a semester in Vienna though, which should be good fun At least, it will be, if I manage to survive this semester! Loads of reading and work, which would not be that much of a problem if I hadn't slipped into a very depressing mood which has been hanging around these past few weeks. I hate being so down but often there's nothing you can do about it..

Going mad huh.. seems like both of us are very busy! Good luck with your exams! But ohh, translating! That sounds very interesting I hope it's about a subject you're familiar with? (I was once asked to translate texts which had to do with video mixers and the like. The text was full of terms that people in the field all know, but I didn't, and it was confusing as hell!) But that's great, that you already managed to find your internship! Absolutely awesome, go you!! But I hope this doesn't mean you'll lose all of your summer holidays?

Hey!
It's been a while, I know, I'm sorry.. it's just that I haven't been very active on dA the past.. well, 2 years I think! so I hadn't noticed before that I hadn't updated my old account.. how are you?

hey!
nice to see you again on DA. Actually I haven't been recently active too I now and then look on my account and check out some new pictures of friends of mine.
2 years ... gosh, it's passed so quickly!
How am I? so many things changed! Now I'm studying Chinese at the university and that's a nice ... period!
And how are YOU? Busy too? Hectic life you lead?
greetings!
Welcome again!

Hey!
It´s just nice that whenever one feels like it, you can simply hit up dA and all of it is still there *g* Yeah, life's been really busy for me too.. Uni starts later this year, if I pass my final exams which start in more or less 2 weeks. Argh, horror! But I'll manage, I suppose..
But you're studying Chinese? That's awesome! And rather difficult, no doubt! How is it, studying a language & culture? I'll be studying German at uni, so I'm curious

pretty-Rathaus In reply to Solyndra [2010-05-07 21:38:25 +0000 UTC]

Of course you'll manage and pass your exams with flying colours!
Believe me -fear- I had that kind of feeling a year ago
I agree - it's very nice to meet the same people again, it's like coming back home (a song of M.Buble comes to my mind )
Frankly speaking, I can say I went through all the exam hardships and eventually I study my beloved Chinese language - it's my major.
Of course there is something about culture and the language= especially structure- but mainly - we focus on the grammar and vocabulary, loads of exersises. If it comes to my studies - we don't have history classes or Chinese press classes - it's reserved for the 2nd year during the first term we studied something like - geography of China, politics, economy and that stuff
I believe that every uni has different educational programm so no compare ...
I believe that you will get to study German I wish you will!
我希望你通过你的考试!
Greetings!

Aww, thank you I'm not so sure, but it's lovely that other people seem to be.
Oh but that all sounds very interesting! Seems like you get a pretty good overview of China and Chinese in general then Can you speak a bit in Chinese already?
And I know, you can't compare different universities, I was just interested in your general feeling re: studying a language
Thanks! I'm fairly sure it'll happen. I can't wait!

If it comes to my studies - yes, that's right- I can speak Chinese ^^ of course my pronounciation isn't as good as I want it to be but .. I try my best to learn it! (Chinese language has 4 tones and you should pronounce words differently e.g. 'ma' 马 with the 3rd tone - a horse, ‘ma’ 妈 with the 1st tone - a mother It's quite complicated to explain it without sound But you can find some videos on youtube site or other
Let me know how about your exams, ok?
Greetings!

That's so awesome! To be honest, I quite understand what you mean (I've got a friend who studies Japanese, and although I haven't heard her speak about the tones, they have some similar problems) But I'll look on YouTube sometime, thanks
Will do.. I've already done 2 of them, for the English IB (not sure if that rings a bell for you?), my real exams start Monday. I'm dreading it SO MUCH. @_@

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pretty-Rathaus In reply to Solyndra [2010-05-13 21:49:44 +0000 UTC]

That's because Japanese language doesn't have tones. It only exists in Chinese I suppose But Japanese has in the contrary 3 alphabets so .. it really wacks
Unfortunately, English IB - it doesn't ring a bell for me :3 But I'm sure you've dealt with them well! Hope you succeed in all of them!

I see I'm not really familiar enough with either language to know, haha.. yeah, Japanese has many alphabets. I don't know how the people over there remember all those signs! Madness!
Ahh, it's an English exam, and once you graduate you're a near-native speaker, which shows everyone that you're fluent in English and gets you in pretty much everywhere.
And thanks for the thanks! Last exam coming up tomorrow - didn't go as well as I'd hoped, but well enough I think! But yeah.. that's the reason this reply is so late, hehe.. sorry!

Wow! English exam that means you're a native (near-native but .. still!).
How do you feel after all the exams? I'm going to start them tomorrow - 1st-basic knowledge about languages! (insecure about that)
I have to get down to business and plough through all information! wish me good luck

Yeah It's pretty awesome! I hope I've passed.. I'll only hear about that in September, eek!
After the exams.. I felt drained and tired and downright AWFUL. But then it started to sink in that I didn't have to do ~anything~ and it was AWESOME. I recently came back from London and I had great fun. I hope your exams went well too!!

You've definitely passed! A year ago I wrote my "mature" exam and the results were told on July. (May-July - the period of doubts!)
I've been through 3 exams so far. Got A ! I'm quite proud of my grades. There are still 2 exams looming in the air. The hardest ones.
23th od June - the deadline of suffering!
London? sounds great! (伦敦-lúndūn in chinese) What did you see? Where were you?

Solyndra In reply to pretty-Rathaus [2010-06-14 08:54:59 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thanks for the faith. But this long period of doubts, like you say.. it's getting annoying and somehow, because I have to wait so long, I start worrying even more!
Congrats on those grades!! And good luck with the other two, I'm sure you'll do just fine on those as well.
Just a little while longer then, and you'll be through.
We were near Kensington High Street. We'd been twice before, so we mostly just went shopping and we saw some museums we hadn't seen before.. and 3 musicals, haha! Priscilla - Queen Of The Desert, Legally Blonde and Oliver!. It was awesome.

Hi Solyndra!
I haven't answered for such a long time because I am enjoying my free time (summer break!). I passed all my exams and now I'm free as a bird ^^ I'll get a scholarship on October on the 2nd year of the Chinese! I'm so excited! I can't believe it, it's like a dream.
Today is the day when I come back home. It's strange to abandon the city you were studying in. But I'm relieved it is only for the vacation
On 9th of July I'm going to Taiwan - I just can't wait it
Legally Blonde as a musical? must be worthseeing ^^
greetings from Poland!

P.S. - how's your exams?

It's just wonderful to pass everything and have all the 3 months for yourself! gosh, amazing!
That's right, I really love the city where I study! People say it's the culture and entertainment centre, I agree ;3

Yeah, all 3 months doing just whatever I want.. I love it, don't you?
Where are you studying then?
You should be leaving for Taiwan pretty soon now.. I hope you'll have a FANTASTIC time!!!

That's right, I'm leaving on Saturday afternoon. The first stop is in Frankfurt, then in Taipei and finally in Kaohsiung I'm really nervous about the flight and the stay. It's not that I've got the fear of flying but you know, the whole stuff at the airport, check-in, baggage weight, departure, gosh it's so terrifying. And everything is so different, the food, the people, the culture but ... I can handle it, can't I?
Thank you, I also hope you'll spend your time great!
I'm not sure about the access to the Internet so I'll say - wish you amazing holidays and I'll write to you when I'll come back home!

So, bit late, but I hope you had a fantastic stay! I don't mind flying too much personally, so I hope you didn't find it too much of a hassle! Good music and good books help a lot, I find. And I hope you got used to the culture? The people are very friendly, and the food should be very good according to my mom.
Thank you, I had lovely holidays. I went to Disneyland and Germany and really did enjoy myself. There are pictures on my Tumblr, if you're interested ([link] ).

Hi!
At least, I came back from Taiwan! I must admit that it was amazing trip, I'd dare to say: one of the best in my life!
I got used to the culture in few weeks time. Of course every time I went out I was discovering some things that were amazing me more and more. There are so many differences and so many simmilarities. I met a whole bunch od extraodrinary people, made so many friends and learned a lot! I brushed up Chinese in terms of everyday language.
I hope you also had a wonderful holidays. What's about you studies now?

And thanks. I start with my studies.. tomorrow.. goodbye 3 months of holidays! *sniffles* I'll miss them a bit, but I hope to LOVE my studies.

Hello!

It's also very nice to hear from you! You've already started your studies? Am I right? It's so weird because I thought that every European country allows students start their classes at the beginning of October. I myself will start with the 1st of October (Friday).

Taiwan (or I should write 台湾) was so amazing. I would dare to say that it was the best holiday trip in my entire life. in the beginning I had feared that there would be no option to communicate with my "one year chinese abilities" but ... I managed! That was so exciting to talk with them using their mother language. I tried to avoid using English but some of Taiwanese wanted to brush up theirs. I've been there 6 weeks. I thought it would be so long but it passed so qucikly, in an eye blink. I met so many wonderful people and I must confess I miss them a lot. Everything was so different but in the end everything was so close to my heart, really

Wish you fruitful term1

Hello!

Yes, I have already started my studies - on the 6th of September, so I've actually only been at uni for 20 days *lol* Feels like much longer! I'm enjoying it immensely though, even if now my life suddenly is very busy again But you start this week then! Enjoy & good luck & all that stuff But isn't that a bit funny? Starting on a Friday?

Aww! I'm so so so so glad you enjoyed Taiwan so much! I've heard nothing but good things about it so I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as well. But 6 weeks! Wow! That's definitely very long. Seeing as you liked it so much, I hope you'll get the chance to return!

Same to you!

I haven't had an access to the Internet recently so haven't had the opportunity to reply! (begs for forgiveness)
In terms of studies, that's right, I've started the second year of Chinese and I'm quite positive about the forthcoming year. I signed for extra English classes (my English has been decreasing so please, don't mind small mistakes, there's saying "err is human,,," the rest you know! ) and I do hope I will make a progress.

Taiwan was a beautiful dream you don't want to end but ... the reality comes to you like a bolt from the blue, that's a pity. I try to live my day-to-day life, in the beginning was so hard but I gradually used to do it.

I'm looking forward to your reply! and again- big and warm greetings!
I'm happy you enjoy your studies! That's the most important thing - study what you like, no pushing and forcing, pure pleasure.

That;s okay, don't worry! *hugs* I've been awful in keeping in touch lately.. uni eats my time.. So definitely, here's forgiveness! *gives* But ehm, I'll need it back

Oh don't worry about your English, it's fab! But extra courses are always good of course. (Or maybe that's just the language geek in me speaking? ) I hope you'll like them and that you'll have enough time to do them next to your German!

Yeah. It's hard to get used to daily life again.. I already have that when I am away for just a couple of days, I can't imagine how you must feel! I was in Manchester for 2 weeks on my own and I still miss some habits I picked up during that time.. even though it's more than 1 1/2 years ago. Funny isn't it?

Sorry for the late reply But many many warm greetings for you too! *hugs* By the way, if you want, it might be easier to stay in touch over the mail.. just saying.. you don't have to if you don't want to but still.

Yeah, I love my studies! Except for the literature course I'm doing at the moment 'cause me and the teacher don't agree on what's important in poems, but I'll deal with it. Only 2 1/2 more weeks and then a test and I'll be done. My love for German will get me through nearly everything

Hi Sandra!

I also think that it would be nice to send e-mails just to keep in touch. Mine is: ann.xinying@gmail.com Please starting from now on use it
Actually, It is brand new, set up yesterday. I decided to choose gmail.com cause it's quite handy and doesn't make problems with Chinese characters, sometimes my Polish mailbox changes the original meaning of a particular character so ... that's quite confusing when it comes to reading someone's mail.

I must confess that I've been recently in some state of melancholy and sadness. I just don't know whether to put blame on an autumn or on missing Taiwan, I guess both of them are correct. There is some strange thing that cannot let me live my life, I strive for something but don't know what, in fact. Gosh, it puts a bit of a strain on me trying to study. Despite that 'little problem' I'm so happpy of my life in Poznan. I do love that city, atmosphere and people around me. Last weekend we went to a pool bar just to play pool. That was fantastic. I myself call a fan of snooker so... that was quite an amusing event. We played in 2 groups and in the end, there was draw.

Hope you still enjoy your German I'm gathering energy for the deeper study of Chinese

Greetings
