you have a nice gallery Derek.. and i think you have promise..
i think a very useful tip for you would be to think and focus on two things primarily:

composition and lighting

composition would be the framing, the angle, perspective, focus.. and the lighting would be to see the shadows, the source angles, the best time during the day to shoot, and so forth. then shoot your photos accordingly.

you have a lot of macro shots. and you seem to like to play with the lighting. so keep trying new things in those categories.. browse the still life/macro galleries here on dA and pick a few really good shots for you to emulate as much as possible. then try to compose the shot in a similar fashion.. you'd be amazed at how much practice you'd get from trying to copy photos you really like or admire.

then when you're comfortable with the techniques, you can develop and solidify your own style and feel in the shots.

but always keep shooting.. the more practice you have, the better you'll keep getting. good luck man..
