Morph targets are low-level, as far as realisrtic facial animation is concerned. They don't allow for the kind of minute and subtle expressiveness that a bones and muscle setup gives you. You can mix this with volume deforms animated displacement maps, and morph targets as well, but when the complexity gets too high the system is more prone to catastrophic errors.

Morph targets are just one of many techniques.

Plus, I am experimenting.

The ground IS geometry, and yes.....the caustics are not realistic, but a realistic one probably would not have caused anything on the barrel, and that's what I wanted

thanx for your comments, but, like i said, i jus started on 3d max last week, so i have a lot to learn. the screen shot jus happened to be in editable mesh mode like that whne it was taken, while i was experimenting. as for radio netscape:1)easier than thinking of songs to download, waiting for them to download, hoping i get no viruses, and then hoping at least half of them work, 2) my cd's are in my car 3)its free 4)plays some tight shit, so, as for the "thanx for the comment" blow me!

And i had a poly Quota of 2200, atm that gun is sitting at around 1500, so i had a bit of fun with extra details
