# About me

This is the spot where I am supposed to write about how I am better than you:

published in some lit mags/journals/ezines including Poets and Writers, Rattle, Barnwood, etc etc etc whatever, ask if you want to know them all.

won the 2009 New Letters Poetry Prize judged by Kim Addonizio

published four books (3 poetry, 1 flash fiction). Three out of print and sold out, one still available - please click the book photo above for more info.

Currently working toward getting into a super pretentious MFA program and busy, but also interested in why you write like such an asshole.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Look, you word whore, I am back and you are not and that is just rude. And I KNOW you're around writing. So like, come back for the summer and give me someone to talk to. It's fucking crickets around here.

So why'd ya take down your poems anyway? Excuse me for saying, but you don't seem the type... Not in a bad way. Or in a good way. Just a neutral way.

The one that sticks best in my mind after all these years is "I sure as hell wasn't east of Eden." I love dat one. But I just found it so it's OK.

I can't have anything online if I publish them. So I'll post here until I send it out and then it goes in storage. Most lit mags have gotten pretty anal about previously published = anywhere online, even a personal page. It's been a win some lose some as my audience here no longer exists because of me deleting so often so then I sell less books ... but I can't publish books without creds in lit mags, who wouldn't publish me if I kept posting here. So ... Lol.

What a bunch of dorks. In the past several several years I have once attempted to submit something to the one and only place I wanted Β to be published with, and it ended with me telling the publisher guy that maybe I did want to waste my time and money... Haa. It's not as bad as it sounds but we did get personal, which is a serious problem of mine. As far as you go I'm sure you'll be just fine with whatever route you choose. You are seriously dedicated and motivated, Β it seems, and you have the talent and will to back it. The small loss here you will most likely make up in spades once time moves on. I think that it would be beneficial to your career to get involved in more readings. If there are none, make some up. Travel. Invite me.

I'm actually concerned about this as it seems the thing to do after you publish a book ... but I hate people.

My friend is actually going on a roadtrip in a couple of months all over the states...I will ask him if he plans on going to your area (you're in New York somewhere, right?) and plans on reading any. If he is, I will hook you two up, maybe he can tell you of a reading you can join or something. He is a seriously amazing person and I think you would be happy to meet him. He is older, probably in his 60s? He basically does art/poetry for a living. He reminds me of Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas (damn it, Disney). Wise, clever, a tree, basically.

Would I know his work? And,yes hook me up! Though I'm constrained to not going too far because .. kids. Lol. I live outside oswego ... I'm up to hang out some night in the city(oswego, not NYC, I'm not that ambitious lol) as,long as I have advance notice ... Because kids. How have you been? I was a bit of a shit in retrospect but you were going through some shit eh? I am a bit of a shit to everyone though

I don't know if you would or not because I don't know what he has done in the scheme of "the world" as opposed to "the here," and I also don't know what you know. So quick to change your tone, it's interesting Β  Anyway, I have left him a message and we will see what he says when he responds.

Well, thank god, good. Channel it into your reading. I was invited to read at a friend's thing last year...it was the first and only time I have read in my life, and honestly I was very disconnected from what I read and from the audience, though still semi-cocky and sarcastic trying to see through the spotlight hoping to see people visibly disgusted/confused (feeds my heart hahaha). My friend who is more of a performance poet than a poet for reading, which if I had to classify myself would probably in the latter category, and who has been doing this for years, offered to work with me on reading. Something that stuck with me from what he said, even though I have not applied it yet, is to make each word come to life...so it's like whatever you're feeling vibrate it into each word...take it word by word and don't worry about the whole piece. It's magic! And s l o w it down. I was worrying about the whole piece so I read as if I was in a speedreading contest, ha. By focusing one word at a time and really vibrating the word out it magically makes the whole of whatever you're reading come alive together even though you're not worrying about it all as a whole, just piece by piece. So, I think if you're focusing on word by word and really delving into the three-dimensionality of it, you won't even notice that there are people around. Easier said than done though, obviously. You can always wear sunglasses too.

-Robot Machine Speed Reader

I will add though I think that even if you are a sucky reader if your material is interesting than you are given some leeway.

Sorry, I'll try to do a journal with my recent published stuff soon. This is moderately up to date [link]

I know it sucks, but I still want the most acceptances I can so I have more readers and my name "means something" when I apply to grad school again so everything I have is pretty much always out for consideration (as soon as I get a rejection, I resend somewhere else). I've really been neglecting da though ... I've gotta do updates!!
