Ah, Guillermo del Toro, Mike Mignola and Frank Miller are probably up at the top... It's probably a really long list, all-told, though. Yours?

WOW i like your choices! I really like Mike's style as well as Guillermo del Toro. pan's labyrinth was sick. That last Hellboy movie was awesome with the art direction, but I will admit i was a bit disappointed with the overall package.
One My heroes used to be Luke Chueh. His art was simple but his message was funny once u read the titles. I love Tim burton, his movies are usually amazing(xcept for Alice) I really like the artist who did FLCL and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, in general i love GAINAX. Hayao Miyazaki has to be near the top of my faves. I like Greg Craola Simkins, his style is beyond imagination and his paintings are so detailed. I love The guy whos doing Adventure time, as well as Regular show. And of course i love Thurop Van Orman. hahaha long list sorry

I agree with you about Hellboy II; it was gorgeous, but... not quite Hellboy, you know? The scenes in the marketplace, though-- ugh, amazing, watch it forever on loop
The guys who do Adventure Time and Regular Show are Pendleton Ward and JG Quintel! Pendleton Ward's got a few other pre-televised Adventure Time floating around the Interwebs; you should look them up, if you haven't seen them!
I don't know some of the people you referenced, but they sound interesting-- gonna look 'em up this week.
