it's great to get drawn in to your poems again, some of them have such an intuitive rhythm and soul, which combines so powerfully with the 'personality' of your writing - poingancy tinged with wit (or vice versa)!

thanks so much. I'm still catching up on
quite a large watchlist backlog, but I'm
looking forward to reading some new work
from you.

You're back! Funny how dA has that way of sucking you back into it's vortex eventually...

well, funny you should say that, as I mostly came back to remove my poems! but also to catch up on some reading - I don't plan to stop following my dA writers any time soon... I'll be around, just not always vocal

not once have I received that impression. (though the problem with poets is that an insult can be intended as a compliment, and the other way around!)

ha, my self-important anti-fundamentalist rage?
tragic(ally enough, i was considering posting it to da but decided against being lynched via internet, it's too much trouble)

perhaps that'll fit into the documentary
and then we can be terribly urban and sarcastic
and call it a mockumentary

, your titles are heavier and your poems sit better, more comfortably
so you know

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to anyimacielgray [2010-01-10 23:40:08 +0000 UTC]

you need to stop spinning my words
spinstress

if i ever get a camera this documentary is *so* happening,
i'm not even kidding

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-10 23:42:51 +0000 UTC]

spinstress
i like the sound of that

i'm in if you make the soundtrack
i'm not kidding either
though there is the small matter of that ocean

!!
was just thinking of you yesterday (or rather, quite early this morning)
and going through to read many of your poems again
it was a fabulously rewarding enterprise
aka
i miss talking to you

r-mitchell In reply to anyimacielgray [2010-01-02 22:27:23 +0000 UTC]

we should make a movie
grainy, cutup and trashy
with an awesome soundtrack

i think we'd do it well

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-02 22:33:56 +0000 UTC]

the soundtrack is essential
i'll just sit around
in my orange sunglasses and
listen to you orchestrate it

plus deriving deleted scenes
from daydreams
i'm a terrible, loathsome daydreamer

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to anyimacielgray [2010-01-04 11:00:43 +0000 UTC]

now you've said that,
i'd sooner shoot a documentary about you sitting around in orange sunglasses and daydreaming.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-04 20:03:42 +0000 UTC]

technically they are orange and purple
but mostly orange

does that make a difference

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 2

r-mitchell In reply to anyimacielgray [2010-01-04 22:11:57 +0000 UTC]

omg . they really are orange, and quite similar to how i imagined

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-04 22:46:54 +0000 UTC]

they are quite orange
and i would be willing to let you borrow them
bet they'd look stunning

not one bit, as long as the deckchair colours match

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-04 22:47:52 +0000 UTC]

, deckchairs indeed

what are the deckchair colours

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to anyimacielgray [2010-01-05 09:45:33 +0000 UTC]

pale pastel pinstripes... maybe green and blue. it's quite garish

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

anyimacielgray In reply to r-mitchell [2010-01-06 00:16:38 +0000 UTC]

my sunglasses can deal with garish
i'd call that a done deal

French movie you must see if you haven't already. 'Le Choriste.'

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-09-24 09:56:47 +0000 UTC]

you know what, i am *this close* to watching dancer in the dark. i suck, don't i? but "le choriste" - i will remember that.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 0

ottersandsky [2009-09-08 22:06:00 +0000 UTC]

would you call yourself intuitive?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-09-08 22:34:12 +0000 UTC]

i had to reconsider my answer. i don't know if i'm any more intuitive than anyone else, but i often feel things that are later revealed to be true, and i guess a big part of my creative expression is based on creating feelings rather than narratives, so in that sense definitely...

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

ottersandsky In reply to r-mitchell [2009-09-09 08:42:34 +0000 UTC]

yes. i was just asking because i think you are. from your writing and such. it's interesting hearing people describe themselves. yeah. so, yes, that was a question i suddenly felt like asking. not sure how to explain myself here. lol

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-09-09 08:45:31 +0000 UTC]

i have a tendency to drastically overthink when i'm asked questions like that!

so would you say you're also intuitive for knowing that i'm somewhat intuitive?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

ottersandsky In reply to r-mitchell [2009-09-09 08:49:56 +0000 UTC]

I think that'd be cheating a little, because you don't necessarily need to be intuitive to notice that someone else is. but I think I am anyway, so it's okay.

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-09-02 08:35:07 +0000 UTC]

yes, i know what you mean. their latest two albums (especially the most recent) have something of a crazy, energy-infused folkiness - definitely a similar vibe.
their earlier stuff is heavier, more guitar + drums driven, but no less wonderful. what stands out above everything are the lyrics (and the delivery). it gets me so excited you wouldn't believe!

"brushing

Just a snippet I had no idea what to do with. Now it's a present. Also I watched that Scottish parrot thing and loled.

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-08-22 10:21:32 +0000 UTC]

that's fantastic. i wish we gave more presents like that.
*resolves to do so from now on*

i'll try and come up with some good snippets while i'm away.
glad you like the scottish parrot "i want a bloody apple!"

ottersandsky In reply to r-mitchell [2009-08-22 10:38:44 +0000 UTC]

We definitely should.

I'm sure now that you think about it they'll just float through your head, and you'll go wait a minute! And write them down, or save them in a "note" on your phone, or leap out of bed and pour torrents into a typewriter.

It's all quite romantic, this writing lark.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

r-mitchell In reply to ottersandsky [2009-08-22 11:21:14 +0000 UTC]

that's exactly how it works the phone "note" is a particular favourite.

i do believe that we writers are the most romantic of all artists. and certainly the most intellectual

ottersandsky In reply to r-mitchell [2009-08-22 23:15:47 +0000 UTC]

Same here, haha. I have several snippets saved up right now.

Oh, for sure! "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart," said Wordsworth.
