Indeed!
I haven't really heard enaugh of Zappas music to say to much about it, I'm stuck at my captain. Anyways, I think that the vocals are very different from each other, Zappa kinda talks in a softer way, I like Beefhearts drunken/ crocky voice.
What about you; Zappa or Le Fabuleux Captain?

Oof. I guess if I had to pick I'd go with Zappa, but I only ask that question because I think it's a toughie and there's no wrong answer. They're both fantastic, albeit crazy. If you like Beefheart's voice, you should check out Tom Waits (who I'm sure you've heard) and Mark Lanegan (who you may not have).

yes, that's true. But I also like Zappa, don't get the wrong idea.
I've heard Tom Waits, great artist. Going to check Mark Lanegan out too as soon as I can, thanks for the tip!

Lanegan has several solo albums, but he was also the lead singer for the Screaming Trees, sings often with Queens of the Stone Age, and just released an album with Isobel Campbell from Belle & Sebastian. He's got his finger in a lot of pies, so to speak.
