You're welcome. (: Aw that's good.
Things eventually get better, I know everybody says it, but sometimes they sort themselves out. Just give it time.
Have you told your dad how you feel?
It's good to release your emotions, so keep procrastinating! Lol.

Let's just say that Daddy Dearest isn't exactly a listener. I did however...express my feelings to him. He didn't take it very well though.

you're right about things working themselves out. I think people obsess too much about their own lives to really notice what goes on in the world. They are too caught up in their own problems to think about anything but themselves and how messed up their lives are. Sometimes people need to just take a breath and a step back, and let life sort its way out.

And thank you for the advise, it's always appreciated no matter how overrated it is

Dad's can be such a pain. Trust me, my Dad is.
I know how you feel. When I feel sad, I listen to music and punch a pillow, with a cuppa tea. I don't know why, it just helps lol.
I know what you mean. People do become obsessed. And sometimes it's good to have a friend to like..I don't know...almost be miserable with? Like to confide in them.
You're welcome. (: <3

raineydays In reply to mya-christopher [2009-06-01 20:24:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it is nice to share your misery with someone. It's always a relief, at least to me. I know this may sound cliche, but I usually write when I feel like the world has morphed into something I can't handle.

Tea always helps lol!

Thank you again <3

It is. Me and my friend met up the other day just to share our misery. It was good just to share each other's emotions.
I know how you feel. My mother was in a stress with me the other day and told me she didn't want to see me for an hour. I felt a little heartbroken already and just wanted to get away so I ran away to a quiet place and started writing a song.
I love that song now. (:
It does! And when you're feeling just that bit more blue - a dash of sugar haha.
You're welcome. <3

Ah, Mary Poppins.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My dad is much the same except he dismisses me for hours on end. I'm not so great at song writing. Journals do not work for me though I have found that writing poetry is a great stress relief.

I would love to read the lyrics to your song ^^

mya-christopher In reply to raineydays [2009-06-22 16:10:48 +0000 UTC]

Haha Mary Poppins is amazing.
Dad's just don't get it. I think it's because they basically don't understand girls our age and sometimes they don't even attempt to which is both lazy and tedious.
It's really sad how he does that because he's supposed to be supporting you through your mistakes and achievements. And if he doesn't hear you out - well then, he's being a bit self-involved at the moment isn't he?
Song writing is just something that randomly comes to you all of the sudden. Sometimes people lose heart in it and just do it for money which spoils perfectly good music. It's such a shame. Journals are annoying, they never last..at some point you just forget to write in them haha. I tend to just live for the moment and remember it.
Poetry is an amazing way to release stress! I love it too. (:
I don't like to show other people though, they don't understand them.
Oh sure! I'll send them to you at some point. (:

I agree. Some dads are all about their sons or too caught up in work or whatever to deal with their daughters. I understand that they don't know how to deal with our moods and they don't understand what is going on with us because they never had to go through life as a girl, but still, some dads don't even pretend to understand, or they pass on what their lives were like and how they know what we're going through. I hate it.

I used to hate sharing anything I wrote. I had to get out of that habit because everything I wrote for English this year was read over by the teacher, and if it was any good it was automatically submitted into Genesis, our school's magazine.

Can't wait

Yeah, I totally understand. My dad was really disappointed when I was born because he wanted a boy and couldn't love me as I was. I think he still finds it difficult to now.
They think boys are the same as us, when they're not.

Wow! Well done! Whenever I do well my teacher gives me a personal comment, I should consider myself lucky haha.

My dad claims I'm his greatest accomplishment. The only time he ever says so is when he is drunk or to impress his friends. I'm only a tax deduction by his standards.

I fell bad for my brother because he wants my dad's attention and only receives the negative. I don't want any of his attention good or bad.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is like that. He should be happy he has a daughter, not disappointed

Thanks. The experience has kind of gotten me over my fear of others perceptions, but it is still odd to be known as the freshman who won the sophomore English award. My teacher is hilarious in his comments. He once got chocolate on one of my papers and wrote an arrow announcing it as CHOCOLATE BROWNIE MY WIFE MADE. YUMMY! It was funny at the time

I know how you feel. Whenever he's around his girlfriend or his friends he's really interested in my music or my education but when we're alone he just doesn't want to know. Fathers can be very ignorant.

And again! I understand! My sister is devoted to my dad and she thinks he's this amazing person but never recieves the attention that she wants from him. Whenever she has troubles or does well he doesn't help her at all. I don't want my father's attention either to be honest, I've tried, failed and I don't want to raise my hopes again. I hope my sister realises who he truly is at some stage.

Aw thank you. (: I'm sad to hear your father is being such an arrogant man, it makes me unhappy when other people have gone through the same as me, because I know how it feels and it hurts.

Haha! He sounds like an amazing teacher! Wow it sounds like you are excelling! I am doing well too, I'm getting A*s for GCSE exams apparently which I am very happy about. You should ask him to get you some of the brownie, it sounds really good. <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

raineydays In reply to mya-christopher [2009-07-06 14:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! Not many people understand how he can be such an arrogant man when they meet him because he acts like he's my best friend.

I'm sorry to hear that your dad is just like mine. It's always a comfort to know that I'm not the only person in the world who's dad doesn't act like a dad, but it also hurts to know that somebody else is going through the same pain - or much worse - than I am.

Hopefully your sister and my brother both come around. I never wanted Daddy Dearests attention but my brother longs for it. I just hope he learns to understand that it's all Daddy's charade.

Congratulations, that's amazing! I'm not sure what the brownies tasted like but the cookies were good ^.^ lol.

mya-christopher In reply to raineydays [2009-07-06 19:01:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes, people just don't understand what's underneath the veil that hides the truth from them. They don't understand what Dad's can actually be like.

I agree it's a comfort to know that you can say how you feel and that someone understands what you're going through. If I tell my friends about this sort of stuff they don't know how it feels and try to comfort me but know that there's nothing they can say to make it feel better because they've never experienced something like it.

I hope so too. My sister will only end up getting hurt, but maybe that's a good thing because nothing I can say can change how she feels towards her Father but if she goes through that pain she'll learn not to trust him.
I think your brother needs a like "man figure", for instance you have your Mum for a female figure and you can relate to her but your brother needs someone to look up to, if you know what I mean? It's sad that your Dad doesn't see that. ):

Thank you very much. You should get your teacher to get you some of that brownie! Ah I love cookies. (: Lol.

raineydays In reply to mya-christopher [2009-07-10 14:40:40 +0000 UTC]

A lot of people only see the good in him because his veil is so thick. I just wish I could tear it off and show everyone what he is.

My friends do try and comfort me, but like you said, it doesn't work as well as someone who has been there. They aren't survivors, so to speak.

My brother knows our dad isn't the nicest person on earth and you're absolutely right that he needs a male figure in his life. Our landlord is making up for that place I guess. He played catch with my brother when our dad didn't. How sad is that? Nom nom nom nom (;
