Thanks. Glad you like my pic. I like to take snaps of lights in night mode and see what effects the extended exposure creates.

Haha no problem. I don't have much to photograph these days anyway, but I'm joining the Navy and definitely getting a much better camera myself, so same here really, only I'll probably be rolling later than sooner. Hoping that my first assignment will be overseas.

I apologize for the upcoming wall of text.
I'm in the middle of the pre-enlistment process. I have a minor issue to work out with my doctor. I have an appointment set for next Friday to get that done. After that, I go back to my recruiter and we finish the pre-qualifying work, then I get sent to MEPS for a physical medical screening, filling out some forms, testing, and then I go to boot camp. That's where I'll pick my job. Since I'm trying to be a CTI (interpreter), which is a very advanced field, I'll actually be choosing a fallback job in case I wash out somewhere along the way to becoming a CTI. But after boot camp, I'll take the DLAB and then I'll work with... umm... somebody to decide on a language for me to specialize in. My prefrence list looks something like: Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin)... and I'm pretty sure I'll get one of those three choices, because I hear Korean, Chinese, and Arabic are the most in-demand right now. Then there's a security screening. Most CTI work is highly classified, so that's why I will need a security clearance. Just an investigation to make sure I'm not a foreign spy or something is all.
Aaand then I go to A-school for intensive study in whatever language I get into. Of course, I'm confident I'll score high on the DLAB, so the Navy will want to take advantage of my high aptitude level by putting me into a Category IV (most difficult) language, which is fine because all my preferences are Cat IV anyway. That means that intensive study at A-school will probably last a bit over a year. I'll actually graduate from A-school with a college degree in that foreign language. Then, I'll have my job, and I'll get my first assignment.
I know, it's complicated, I've been reading a lot.

redotaku In reply to turtlespooon [2009-02-14 09:57:35 +0000 UTC]
Well I'm only fluent in one, but I've studied Latin, French, Italian, and Japanese.
The Japanese I do speak though, I know more from personal experience than textbook learning, and I can't read it so well, so I've been brushing up on that. I want to get in as a Japanese interpreter, but they'll only let me into languages that they need interpreters for, so if they aren't undermanned in Japanese, I'll have to pick another language. But I'll still continue to study Japanese on my own time and just take the proficiency test when I feel I'm good enough with the language, and that'll be an extra $100/month bonus if nothing else.
It's between Chinese and Korean if that ends up being the case. Though Chinese seems daunting, it looks better on a resume than Korean. Basically, Chinese is good for business, whereas Korean is useless. Korea is the new China, and China is the new Japan. China is expanding industrially, and Korea is interested in nothing more than ignoring and/or destroying the outside world.
It kinda sucks that all I can do right now is wait for my appointment next week...

Haha thanks.
I'm left-handed, and I read that that means my language center could either be in the left of my brain, the right, or even both.
Maybe I have a duo-core language processor.
But I think it's mostly because I've been studying one language or another for 7 years.

what kind of guitar do you have? searching for a new one

redotaku In reply to LeonarddaQuirm [2009-01-18 20:15:44 +0000 UTC]
It's an ESP LTD F100 Flame Maple. Dual humbuckers, volume, tone, 3 way pickup switch, 24 fret neck, 1 piece maple neck, agathis body with flame maple caps, black cherry stain. Don't think they make this particular version anymore. It's just a cut above entry level, but it's a great sounding guitar and easy to shred on. I recommend ESP for guitars and basses on a tight budget. My bass is an Ibanez SR305.

yum
well im not that much into shredding, more chilled blues or stuff.. I have a squier-strat, not the best but I always liked id. But now sound is broken somehow, will have to repair it ..
Am thinking about buying a prs-duplicate with humbuckers now, cause like that sound more

Ahh blues be yummy. Yea my guitar would not be your style. I'd like to get a strat and I always wanted a jazz bass. Whenever I come upon a truckload of cash, eh?
My brother used to have a les paul with 3 buckers. That was a piece of work.
