you're lucky - i'd love to be in a 3d modeling class but they don't really offer it here so i've been experimenting with things on my own. it sounds great though, we'll def have to keep in touch

oh, believe me i don't think you need to have a degree in art in order to do it. talent speaks for itself, you really only need the degree if you're not talented and have to have stuff to fall back on... or your 'rents have you going to school. that sounds amazing though, i'm jealous. good luck

i go to alfred university (western new york) and do the 4 year thing - am in my third. the school i go to is known for ceramic art, but has a decent art program (but i'm more of an illustrator).
they just started offering animation last year though, which is basic flash and other computer stuff - what i'm really interested in is stop motion though, so i do side projects myself... and that's ultimately what i hope to get into unless i pursue this cutsie design stuff that i've got on DA...
haha, sorry, that was a lot of my life, but yeah... my mom never graduated college (she's an artist) and works as a shoe designer for some major brands now... so i really have faith in the artist more than the degree.

haha yeah... my two cousins have degrees in art, one works in a cafe and the other in telemarketing. owwwwwwww. Where/what are you doing? You mentioned animation this semester, is it more of a general arts thing or focus?

yeah this is my first year, i just started in july. It's a pretty short and intense program and it's only a diploma. I looked at like some degree ones at emily carr but decided i didn't want to spend 4 years O_O. The first semester is a few months and focuses on basic stuff then it's right into animation for the rest of the little under 2 years with life drawing, sculpture, acting and a few other foundation type things in it. Starts with focus on traditional 2d then the rest focus' on 3d animation and modeling.

haha i'm doing first quarter now so i'm working on like basic stuff my courses are like colour theory and drawing etc right now so i havn't really got into any animation at school yet. In a month i'l have a 3d modeling class and principles of 2d animation. Alot of the stuff i'v been doing at school i just havn't really been posting cause i don't have a scanner and alot of it is just kinda boring excersises. Next semester though will be funfun! Yay for animation lookin forward to seeing more from yuo too!

Yeah, i did. And i think its sick, and even worse for people to be selling other peoples are for profit without permission. I personaly dont care with my art because its not that good first off and if soemone wants to try to sell it go ahead, though i doubt they would. But for mroe established artists on deviantart its horrible that their rights to their own artwork is taken away pretty much without them knowing simply by posting it.
