how did you guys fare in the fires?

My family was about half an hour away from the closest one, and no one that I know got badly affected... so its all good. But the state as a whole is starting to repair itself. No one died which is great!

we only had 1 death I believe in our fires.
pakenham where I live had 2 major fires.
the huge one at a scrap metal yard was about 5km away, and the other one (smaller, but still burnt a whole lot of land) was about 1.5 km away.

yeah, no property as in homes and that were damaged, but the closest house had the fire at their fenceline.
as for the metal yard, it was only a huge wad of metal (cars and crap) that caught fire, so it's less that they have to worry about..
only 1 victorian death, and it wasn't in the pakenham fires
