Hey! I just wanted to thank you for replying to my question at [link] . I don't want to reply to your reply directly, as I want to keep it in my message center as a reminder. But again, thank you very much, I appreciate your answer!

You are welcome. You'll probably have to experiment with the exposure times. 10 minutes is probably a bit on the generous side. Much has to do with the speed and nature of the crowd, and of course the ambient light conditions.
Have fun.

Question: Is it true that compeletely exposed film can be used as a substituted for an IR pass filter?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rogue-designer In reply to Mclandis [2009-09-05 12:39:07 +0000 UTC]
Completely UN-exposed (but processed) Slide film. Yes. Generally runs around 710nm as a visible light blocker.

Mclandis In reply to rogue-designer [2009-09-05 22:25:50 +0000 UTC]
So I should buy a roll of slide film and have a lab process it without exposing it?
Also, will this improvised filter work with Rollei IR400?

rogue-designer In reply to Mclandis [2009-09-07 05:01:00 +0000 UTC]
It might. I'm afraid the block of up to 730nm doesn't leave you with much left in the IR... only 100nm or so. But that might also work really well on bright days. But calculating exposures might be rough.
An R72 is still the best way to go.
But yes. Otherwise, buying a roll of 120 slide and film and sending it to the lab to process without exposing it, is what you need. Make sure they know that's what you're doing, so they don't trash it.

Mclandis In reply to rogue-designer [2009-09-07 05:09:15 +0000 UTC]
Oh well. I just bought a 720nm filter on ebay, so I won't need to do that anyway.
