I aim to tell stories in a way that is accessible and relateable. My art style is inspired in part by Western alternative comics such as Johnen Vasquez and Jamie Hewlett.What drives me to create my artwork is the magic and surreality in every day moments of my life and the lives of those around me. Experiences that seem quite commonplace on the surface inspire me because many people I know share them, yet the forces that lead us to these moments can be personal and very special. For example, cooking, going out to eat, relaxing alone or with friends, or getting ready to go out for a night on the town, and the many other scenarios I depict in my drawings. I juxtapose these moments that I connect with as a young adult with bright and unnatural shapes and colors that emphasize the contentment, joy, frustration, fear, or anxiety that might lead us to them.
Having moved away from my digital collage style in order to pursue more comic art, i try to create digital images that are compelling in color and heavy and rich in texture while maintaining a distinct comic style in my line work.
