Thanks everyone for your comments and encouragement, but unfortunately I don't have access to my graphics tablet while in Japan.
In the meantime you're more likely to see stuff from me along the lines of Regret et Remorse (no idea if that link will work) as I'm playing around with that kind of style at the moment.

Umm, those animated icons... are they hard to make? I asked a friend once and he never really answered me... :/

not really. It's a case of a lot of screen-capping, using a program that can create animated gifs, and then making a "frame outline" around the finished gif (which is basically like making a non-animated icon). I use Macromedia Fireworks (MX. It's GOD.) but a lot of other programs like Jasc Animation Shop etc etc do pretty much the same thing. As long as you can use layers of some description, you're sorted.
I make a lot of animated bases, which you're free to play with if you like
If you'd like animated bases of anything in particular, feel free to ask and I'll see what I can do. ^__^
