Ah, I didn't know there were hanbok accessories. Unlike Japan and yukata, most koreans don't wear hanbok. . . ever. xD I mean, as a kid they might, or some people in stores will wear them for the Chuseok holiday, but it's nothing like all the yukata you see in Japan during the summer!!

Oh, I think this is sad...because the traditional clothes in Korea are so adorable and well suited for korean people. :/ But yes, there are a lot of accessoirs for hanbok, caps, hairpins, wigs, handbags, shoes, socks, vests and so on. I´m very into it xD *ahahaha*

How long will you stay in Korea? Or are you definitely be hired by your company and work there "forever"? Is English very useful there? Cause in Japan I had a lot of problems with no one could speak English Ö_ö

lol. I'm doing very good actually. Finally getting settled in and trying to get into a little bit of a routine. Midterms were this week and that was quite busy. >.>

I'm in Korea for at least two years. I will be with this university for at least a year and then I'll be looking at bigger universities after this year is up.
I'm surprised you had trouble with English in Japan. I found that while most people don't "speak" English, they enough simple words for requests. . .Korea is the same. English is needed for university entrance exams and it is considered to be VERY important for career development. But it is rarely spoken "in the real world" of Korea. People here know enough words (sign, hot, cold, sugar, etc) for me to survive ok here with no Korean.

Wow, 2 years. I really envy you. I´m not able to go to Korea or Japan. Everything is way too expensive. It starts with the flight. But at the moment I´m working at a law firm and can save some money.
Uhm, no...if I asked someone in english to help me...all of them seems to doesn´t understand me. Just a headshaking...and I asked young school girls and students. But no one understand me ;__; maybe my english is really that bad?!

lol, the head shaking. I get that too. But worse is when some one speaks Korean to me, I shake my head and in Korean, i say "Sorry, I don't speak Korean". . . . .and they continue to speak Korean to me. -.-* I doubt your English is that bad- people are sometimes just to nervous to even try. I spoke some Japanese so maybe they just felt more comfortable trying to speak.

Uhm, I just travel around once Ö_ö and I have to say, how older I get...I don´t like conventions anymore. :/ I visited the Japan-Day in Duesseldorf/Germany and it was horrible. I expected tradional shops, typical japanese crafts and so on. But there were thousand of youngsters who just dresses like Naruto ans co. And they weren´t very interested in Japan but in just Anime/Manga and Lolita 
At the moment I start korean lessons. *__* And I started with Taiko <3

I've come realize that I hate Otaku. -.- I hate the "i know everything about Japan-desu" stuff. Drives me nutters. Everytime I want to have a nice day and want to get to know more about Japan there are always these stupid brainwashed crowds around and cut the good mood into parts -.-* And then they tell you this is normal and you haven´t gone to such a convention if you don´t like the atmosphere >.< *argh* Drives me crazy.

Uhm...german shows? no, I can´t suggest you one of them xD The most known should be "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (very old and bad Ö_ö) or "Verliebt in Berlin". But I really don´t like all of them. I think german actor/acress are the worst ^^*

lol. I guess. I find them too boring and unrealistic actually. Well unrealistic compared to American shows. I just find that everyone looks too perfect and rich in Korean dramas and that bothers me. . . partially because of all the personal image issues here.

And yeah. . .it is a very big problem. Woman here wear makeup with bleach to whiten their faces (one of the western teachers here accidentally bought one with "whitening" and bleach-blotched patches on her face!) Plastic surgery is also VERY common here with the most common practices being procedures to widen the eyes, give an eye fold, raise the nose bridge, and chin bone reduction. Even the girl who took my picture said that I have a cute city face, when I gave her a compliment in return she said that she was not pretty, she just had eye surgery to help fix herself. . . there is a small movement to combat this, but the perfectionist media and advertising is just so prevalent that it's like fighting a tidal wave.

hm, this is sad if it is this way in Korea. Cause it has a lot of good sides. And such a beautyful culture. But I think it´s the same with Japan. Maybe cause they think they look all the same? This reminds me of the ganguro-style xD Do you know? personally I don´t like it but it´s a good way to protest

Interesting. . .I think there are a growing number of universities in America offering Japanese and Chinese. Used to be just German, French, Spanish, and Latin. But At my last Uni we had Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic. They also used to have Russian, Italian, Portuguese, and Greek. But that's just Unis, not Language Institutes.

yes, it´s the same here. at the Uni they sometimes offer Japanese, Korean, Chinese and others. But just for those who really studing at this Uni. :/ Bad luck for me. And at the top my korean lessons stoped cause there weren´t enough interests and not enough who want to learn. ;__;
