A man's best friend.
A woman's best friend.
When no person can possibly understand, they do.
When no one will listen, they do.
A partner through life
Someone who can hold every secret without a peep.
Someone who gazes at you through hopeful eyes
Holding your hand when you've had a bad day.
Guiding you through your hate and pain
Sharing in your happiness with eager energy.
One you can laugh at and laugh with.
And then, when you've both grown, you share in memories of simpler times.
Like one who is human, you think they will be at your side until you share your last days together.
But a cruel world takes the best things in life
It does not take those who hurt you
Those who cause you suffering
Those you hate.
It takes the few capable of making you happy.
Your best friends.
And you have to wonder
Why?
Why did it have to happen?
Losing a best friend
Feelings cannot describe
Words can not describe
How much you feel to have lost.
When you look back at the last time you spoke to them
The last thing you said
The last thing you did together
And you realize things will never be the same, not even with all the wishing in the world
A pet is a best friend forever
Their love doesn't go away
And your love for them doesn't
And they will be waiting for you, no matter what anyone says
