Do you really think all Wright and Ayers ever thought about or discussed was terrorism?
Think of someone who plays a significant or even supporting role in your life. Obviously they will have some views you share and some you don't. Do you really think it's logical for me to choose any one of their views, and by virtue of the fact that you know them, assume that they have indoctrinated you with the same view?

Do you realize that you could attribute just about ANY unsavory world view or mindset to ANYONE using this type of guilt-by-association thinking?

Yes I do, because its true. People as a whole are influenced by all sorts of things consciously and unconsciously everyday. For example, my mother has always been a hard worker at home and work. Never even once mentioning it she instilled me with a work ethic. Not as good as her's though. I'd preform tasks I didn't want to do but I'll probably bitch about it. At the same time, I also inherited her distrust of "Americanos" her way of saying whites, in particular white men. Something I had to deal with for a very long time.

So if I could pick up on that just through her actions as a kid why couldn't Obama experience the same thing through someone as vocal as as Wright or Ayers?

And not to sound all old fashioned but birds of a feather. Think about your personal life. Don't the majority of the people you choose to be around have a like mind set as you? Not 100% identical but similar, so Obama being only human would be subject to the same process, and he just happened to choose to keep a hateful reverend and crazed professor around in his personal life.

I've seen ONE sermon that people objected to. We got an earful of it during the last month of the election. Where have you heard that he talked about white oppression "all the time"?

A mother is one thing. Children are impressionable and their mothers are around them pretty much constantly. Someone you met during your adult life and only associate with as a friend and colleague (if even that) is entirely another. Unless you are careful to only associate with people who share your precise views (which I fear some people probably are) you're going to end up having friends that you don't necessarily agree with on everything. Obama did not ride around on Ayers' back while he did house chores; they met in 1995 and have not corresponded regularly since. Even my professors, whom I see once a week, have thus far failed to indoctrinate me with radical personal views from their youth. Something tells me that spreading those encounters out over thirteen years would not help.

To an extent, yes. And I still disagree with them. Two of my closer friends at the moment are a vegetarian graffiti vandal and a fetus-loving conservative christian. I also regularly chat with a mormon, a bisexual, and a girl who believes to some extent that she can divine the future. I assure you that none of these traits have passed to me even partially, and I rather loathe all of them. My pastor of many years--whom I still count as a friend--couldn't even keep me in the bloody faith, let alone pass on any specific extremist doctrine.

Rest assured that, despite my seemingly superhuman abilities to not absorb all the worst beliefs of every person in my life, I am every bit as human as Barack Obama. Could it be that he has the same mystical power?
