is MechWarrior online the first MechWarrior game to have online vs?

Nope, there was a SORTA online version in 1990 with mech simulators and such, REALLY ahead of its time (remember Super Nintendo wasn't even out yet!). www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVybQ2…

BUT for a real 56k modem from your home game experience there was the 1995 Mechwarrior 2. With a CD that was labeled NET mech you could log on and play against people all over the globe! I never tried the online play because I was hooked on Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries and I never experienced because back in those days online games were kind of unheard of so I never bothered, I even remember seeing the Online button but I clicked it once and was unsure of how to use it. (Mechwarrior 3 + 4 plus the expansions were online also)

There may be some obscure battletech online game, text based game or something of that sort that I could of missed, the series runs so far back that I could have missed something totally important.

LOL, I remember my buddy Barret (fellow deviant) and I would quote word for word the mechwarrior 2 mecenaries and mechwarrior 3 intros. I can still watch those today and think they are awesome quick cinemas! Mechwarrior 4 had a good intro and the last frame of the cinema was on the main screen background for a cool effect but it was NOT as cool as mechwarrior 2+3

He lives in Portland, Oregon. He just moved last summer-ish because his girlfriend wanted to for her job. I miss him already!
