I love ferrets, i've got 3 of them now. My fiance originally had two boys and we just bought a little girl. But i have a question seeing as you have white ferrets.
My little girl is white but she's so hyper (because she's still a kit) she gets messy really easily.
Do you use any specific shampoo or anything to keep them clean and white? because i washed her the other day but she's still got a little dirty tint to her. She's got some gray in her coat but she's got like a yellow tint..

I know there are shampoos out there for dogs and cats that whiten coats, however I don't know how ferrets would respond to those.
I personally just use some Groomer quality shampoo I got from my boss when I was still grooming dogs. XD
I really don't bathe mine often, actually I *only* bathe them when they're going out to the vets or so. If you over bathe them, they will get oily faster. My one girl is now more of a creamy color, though she still is pretty bright. Good food might help keep their coats nice as well.

Sorry for the super late reply. If you haven't already gotten a ferret, I'll copy/paste what I had just sent another person about ferrets.
Beware... it's long!
Go research everything you can about them. I can't stress this enough. Ferrets are COSTLY, in time and money. If your ferret comes from one of the huge breeders/petstores chances are extremely high(Like 98%) they will require surgery later in life.
(All of the ferrets I have known personally that were not killed by early accident have died of some form of cancer. All of mine that have passed had died because of their cancers... and I have *two* right now that need surgery because of cancer-tumors and I'm working hard to see that they get it)
So you *will* need to be ready to drop a lot of money on them. It's terribly sad, but that is where they stand today. Also food is extremely important. A lot of conditions can be avoided if you feed them properly.
You'll need a very high protein diet for them, most cat/kitten .. and even food labeled as 'ferret' food don't even come CLOSE!
I do recommend Totally Ferret for starters, it's not too expensive as the foods go, but still look to spend around $20 a bag, and it's not the worst.
And they will need time, a lot of time. They live in cages but they are NOT cage animals. They require a lot of socialization to be happy.
They're very messy, and you have to keep on top of it if you don't want your home to smell foul.
... And before you pick one up from a petstore(which I am ENTIRELY against), please please please contact a ferret shelter in your area. I cannot stress enough how great a path this is. I'm volunteering at a shelter whenever I can, and there are so many wonderful ferrets that desperately need homes. You wouldn't believe how many baby ferrets end up at a shelter! (Though honestly, I'm all about the older ferrets... especially for those of us starting out. Trust me, adult ferrets ROCK).
Not only will you get the benefit of saving a ferret, you'll have a huge amount of backup and support waiting for you. A ferret shelter will be able to answer any ferrety question that comes up. Their advice is golden!
Please don't take this harshly, but I've seen so many ferrets bought impulsively and it *never* ends well, for the owner or the animal. Ferrets are great pets, but they are not for every one.... and there's nothing wrong with that.
Want to kick off some easy research? Go read Ferrets For Dummies. I *love* that book. It's funny, easy to read... and will tell you just about everything you need to know. Including all the medical issues you *will* run into later on!

Thank u so much!! I'm planning to buy one in september, when i'll have a my own home, because i'm not sure how my dog would relate with him/her... I live in Italy (well Spain right now) and i don't know any ferret shelter, but i'll surely look for it.. ^^

I hope when i'll buy him/her to be allowed to ask you for help if i will need it.. I'm studing veterinary, but right now we're studing more dogs and cats... I hope to be able to provide myself to the medical needs my ferret will probably have. And if i couldn't i'll do my best to be sure of his/her health..

Be really careful when introducing your dog. Better if you can see how your dog will respond to a ferret or small animal before you purchase the ferret.
Search online to see what kind of ferret communities are available in your country. Having that back up really makes a big difference.
And yes, if you ever need help or advice you can always ask. If I don't know the answer I know who to ask.
Since you've got some time before you do anything in that avenue look up as much as you can about ferrets!
I know vet'school isn't exactly the easiest out there, very demanding(and rightfully so!), plus with getting your own house and a dog you might have your plate full for a while. So don't rush it, you'll have lots of time to plot and dream up your future ferret!
(Good luck with the vet school, seroiusly... we need more ferret savvy vets!)

My dog will remain at my parents house, and knowing him (he's a really jealous one), probably they'll never meet each other.. Im working on it..
I really cant wait to finish the faculty exams to get an especialization more "open-minded".. there are too much dogs and cats and horses vets..

Do you know anything about tail disorders with albino ferrets? Sometimes, in the summer, my albino's tail(the skin, not fur) will turn a slight brown, after a few weeks it's normal again though and it doesn't bother him?

The discoloration in the tail may be from oils the ferret is producing. Perhaps a hormonal shift in the seasons, since ferret's bodies do react to the changes in the seasons.
