It's kind of buffered me to be honest. I'm still taking classes that are only meant to prove that I can make something realistically.
Luckily i think i finally start getting to do whatever i want next semester.
but i feel like ive been thinking too much about how to make good art when i have to just make it.
I dunno.
I'm in a weird place but I'm slowly getting somewhere, I think. We'll see.

I think that's the main focus of art school though, ain't it?  To get down the basics and teach realism, contrast, control and all that shit?

I've heard from other people that went to art school that creativity is basically starved out until the end where you get to start to incorperate your own style in it, but a lot of people that go to school kind of lose themselves and just muscle memory out shit that they learned.  BUT that's just what I heard, take it with a grain of salt, all I'm gettiung at is don't lose your style! even though I know you'll stay true

yeah, pretty much.
It sucks because i know i can already do it, i can already paint realistically and fancy n whatever. It's tiring
when you really have an identity with your work and you have to kind of put it on hold till the end.
I feel like i already have lost the Nat that made whatever art is in this dA gallery
but i think what i want to make now... is still the same person.
There're still similarities, i still have a lot of the same opinions

UNT?.... Dr. Phil went to school there... hahaha. I've heard that was a good school though.

All the gallery folks I know have art degrees or degrees tied to art.  They all have an identity and different works conceptually, but aesthetically they all look very very similar... that could just be the gallery here in Abilene... but it's a little thing I have noticed.  You have a strong identity with your art, and I think you're too original and your style is to you for you to move too far from it.  I think you'll make it through.

Just remind yourself from time to time to take what they teach you and apply it to you work... not applying your work to their teachings....  Make sure you come first.

If you get too far from yourself I'll drive down there and shake the shit out of you.

no, but... I think I'll be okay. I mean i'm nice and all but I'm too much of an asshole to leave myself behind.
It's still my goal to look different from everyone else but also to appeal to the most teachers I can...
That probably sounds bad but being appreciated comes easily when you work differently, at least it seem like it in this school.
There are a looooooooot of people that make a loooooot of similar looking stuff. I wanna break that. but in the end
its just fro the piece of paper that says I have a bachelor's
