You keep nagging me about that. Why are you making this out to be some kind of crusade? I get it, I have an opinion that's different than yours. A lot of people have opinions different than mine and I don't message them endlessly demanding them to change their mind.

If I have to block you I will, but I hope that you're intelligent enough to realize that harassing me like this is not okay. You're just going to have to get over the fact that sometimes people aren't going to agree with you about everything.

I read your comment in this journalΒ BIONICLE 2015 Summer Sets at Nuremberg Toy Fair Β and saw thisΒ xkcd.com/483/ and to be honest, it was all stupid. I rather USE creative names and words like "Visorak Keelerak" and "Toa Lhikan" and "Vahki Zadakh" and all that stuff and IT IS GOOD for market and storytelling and the complicated was WORHT the effort.

Also when you pointed out people saying "the red one" or "the one who rolls up into a ball" You can say that to ANYTHING. My mother calls the main villain in captain america the winter soldier "the horrible man"

creative words and names FTW!!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skybard In reply to Rexart35 [2015-02-15 03:48:40 +0000 UTC]

It can be good for storytelling. It can also be bad for storytelling. It all depends on how it's handled. All things considered, I think a user-friendly approach like in the new BIONICLE is probably more suitable for a toy line. Certainly the use of descriptive names is a part of how franchises like Transformers have managed to survive so long. People are more likely to remember a name that actually tells them something about the character other than just what to call them.

And anyway, jamming letters or syllables together until you have something trademarkable isn't inherently any more creative than coming up with something that has an obvious meaning like "Skull Basher". Some classic BIONICLE names were meaningful on one level or another, but others were not.

Rexart35 In reply to skybard [2015-02-25 07:06:49 +0000 UTC]

Im sorry but what you say is bullshit. Id rather use names like "Nui Jaga" "Visorak" "Rahkshi" than stupid, basic names like "skull spider" and "skull basher" I can understand because its more easier for customers to understand but when you said " jamming letters or syllables together until you have something trademarkable isn't inherently any more creative than coming up with something that has an obvious meaning like "Skull Basher"." WTF?!?!?!? Jamming letters and syllables until you have something tradwmarkable ISINHERENTLT MORE CREARIVE THAN COMING UP WITH AN OBVIOUS MEANING!!!!!

Im sorry but I strongly disagree with you
