Hello, I was going through your work and I really love them! Your style is quite similar to Turners style and itβs amazing. Iβm a high school student and I am currently working on a project where we have to choose a famous mentor and create series of four paintings using their style. I love your style of painting especially the environmental pieces. I want to try and paint something similar to that since my theme is about the environment. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what medium you used and how you got that effect. Thank you so much. : )

Hey thanks for the kind words. As far as technique all I can really explain by typing is that it really comes down to your medium. I use ink for most my work. Ink and water. If you look at the pieces they have a wet feel and there very drippy. Think of it like watercolor. The more water you add to the ink the more loose the painting will look. It takes time, patience and practice but you can get a landscape feel by pushing around watered down ink on canvas. The way the ink bleeds usually will look like trees and bush. But to much water just blows out the ink. This is the hard part finding the balance in how much water to use. You can get cloud like effects by blowing out the ink but then you have to let it dry before you add any layers on top. Does this make sense? Anyway try playing with water and ink and get back to me.

I have been playing with the inks my teacher gave me and I really like effect of it. Did you use the same technique for the Cityscape pieces? Because i can see more texture on these
Thanks a lot for your time. : )

I have used ink and acrylics for the cityscapes and you are right the cityscapes have lots of texture compared to the landscapes. Thanks for the interest.

i love your paintings! they show such amazing little worlds within our own every day landscapes. im actually working on this same concept about nature taking back our man made world, but im doing it with photography. its an awsome concept and i think your paintings are going to help me alot (since im a rookie and all, haha).
ill post some work up as soon as i can, it would be awsome if you could take a look at it and give me some pointers! ^^,

dude those stiched snowboarding pics are BAMF!!!
I've always wanted to do something like that.
What kind of equipment do you need to do it?

snagletooth In reply to tsalagi444 [2009-03-19 17:21:03 +0000 UTC]
just photoshop. One tip: When you take the photo make sure you use a tripod and keep the camera still so you get the whole shot in one frame.

have you done the city scapes really by drawing in the city on the street or how have you done it ?
π: 0 β©: 1
snagletooth In reply to Diames [2009-02-20 15:48:40 +0000 UTC]
usually by photographs I have taken walking around by my house in the city. Composition is most important to me and sometimes that means I have to take a photo from the center of a main street so it would be hard to set up and paint in a situation.

Hey there...i really like the city scapes in your gallery.Oh what techniques have you used?because it looks digital yet traditional at the same time.
π: 0 β©: 1
snagletooth In reply to Gaya06 [2009-02-17 18:46:04 +0000 UTC]
There all traditional. I have used some for digital media but al of the paintings here are hand done. The technique changes from piece to piece but for the cityscapes most of it is a layering technique using al sorts of material and mixed media.
