# About me

I have far too many hobbies, but it keeps me out of trouble. I luv to build things, any things, but it seems that trains are a majority of what I make. Theres just something about them that interests me more then other vehicles.
I love the out doors, so when I'm not inside I'm outside. camping, hiking, whatever. fresh air should be a requirement for everyone!

I see, like me, you've gotten pictures of good old Ridgeley yards! Were you volunteering? I go down and volunteer there pretty often!

Just a tour of the backshops and yard. I have a friend who lives in Cumberland and his aunt works with the railroad, we were able to get a pretty sweet walk around.
I live down in Montgomery county Maryland so it's a little far for me to volunteer regularly. But I do go up to Cumberland quite often since I have a lot of friends up there.

Is the N gauge turntable of 9" radius?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

soldust In reply to Rockyrailroad578 [2015-03-10 15:14:13 +0000 UTC]

9" radius!? that would be like 200 feet in n scale! its more like 7 1/2" long total so more like a 3.25 radius. it can handle medium sized tender locos, but anything with express tenders, articulated engines, or large wheel arrangements wont fit.
i have a 2 berks, one with a long haul tender the other with a vandy tender. the vandy fits, but the express doesn't. most diesels have no problems fitting, save for my E8's and PA's with their B units!

Mine can hold an 0-6-0 with it's tender, so if I want to turn a Pacific around, I have to remove the tender first. It's been done IRL on the Ravenglass and Eskdale when they borrowed Hercules!
