Your wolfdog photos reminded me of a privilege I had about a month ago, where I walked with a pack of about eight wolfdogs for around two hours. Was a wonderful and interesting experience! 
Also, one wolfdog got so excited about the walk, he'd jump on me like an excited shepherd when he says hi. xD I think my jacket must have smelled of wolfdogs since that walk, because some goats and a donkey wouldn't recognize me and run away at first when I met them again later, lol! The donkey recognized me when I started talking to her, but the goats kept their safe distance.

I would have liked to share that walk and I suspect my Lupo would have enjoyed it too. It is trueβ¦they are unlike dogs in ways I find hard to describe.
My boy demands a different kind of respect. My daughter can push him around and make an ass of him and he snuggles with her like a pack sibling but
if I get on the couchβ¦he submissively gets off. If I snooze and try to cuddle, he gets embarrassed. He won't let me forget I am alfa.
That doesn't mean he always comes when he's called. Sometimes I get the "F U Mom, that was a rabbit. Syonara!"
He is 2 now and I am gearing up for whatever is coming. I may decide to adopt a playmate for him but I need to be sure of his total attachment to me before I introduce another dog.
I don't need him distancing himself from humans in favor of other canines.
I have to patient.
I love the boy..he's amazing.

"Alfa-owners" are not allowed to cuddle with their wolfdog? :0 I thought it's important to show physical affection no matter what rank you have. But there's always things I don't know, that's why I ask.

I'm sure behavior varies... I have had to teach my boy that snuggle is what I WANT him to do. He's much warmer now.(and a little less respectful!)
