Thank you! but that's what I should ask you
I'm just kind of copying reference images right now. Not tracing but copying by eye (and taking too many hours to do it haha). Should I write that somewhere in my description of my post? I'm not good enough yet to just create a new image/post of an existing character.

No that's fine, re-drawing what you see is a good way to start drawing.
You can put it in the description of your deviation that it was a re-draw but it's not mandatory, as long as you didn't trace it all is well.
By re-drawing pictures you will start to understand how things work and slowly but surely you will have practiced enough to put it to use on a made up drawing.
Plus this is a great way of practicing proportions!
For example if you feel like you are ready to try and design a character or draw a scene/pose from scratch you can start combining different elements, pick a reference for each bit you want and make it fit together (pose, clothing ...).
I've been drawing for 2 years now as an art student and understanding the concept of using reference has helped me a lot!
Being able to design amazing things from the top of your head takes a lot of time and practice, and even the professional artists still like to keep a bit of reference at hand for their drawing.
So don't be ashamed of it! It's a great way of practice and you will greatly benefit from this :3
Hope this helped and I didn't write too long of a comment XD
If you have any further questions feel free to send me a note.

That summed it up perfectly. Thanks! xD
Yeh I'm finding it's helping though really slowly but I didn't expect to get good overnight. I wanted to focus on head/face upper body first. Hands seem like a challenge too so starting that a bit.
Well, have a great day senpai!
