I've read the next chapters of your fanfic.. i've just been reading them on my Zune player while I've been working and such and I can't type that easily on it so I have like 30+ reviews to catch up on.. so if I don't get to it right away.. that would be why! xD Anyways the chapters were great!

I don't want to do this. This account is meant to have fun on. As are the accounts of most of my watchers. I didn't want to do this but I am finding an unacceptable amount of people to know nothing about either SOPA, PIPA or both at the same time.

This needs more attention.

Understand. I've known about both SOPA and PIPA for many months now. I have tracked these bills ever since they first came into congress debate. I've been keeping an eye on them, casually spreading news of them. But never did I take them seriously untill a month ago. Suddenly, the votes were nearing and a lot of senators were for these bills.

We were out of time. In an act of desperation we managed to put it off untill now. And now we've also managed to put the bills in the freezer for now but on any day and at any time it could be pulled back out straight for discussion, no questions asked.

What are SOPA and PIPA?

SOPA, 'Stop Online Piracy Act', is a bill meant to cripple internet piracy through illegalizing all sharing of copyrighted material and make everyone affiliated a criminal even if they did so indirectly.

But what is PIPA then?

PIPA, Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 (Don't ask about the name. American politicians are nutjobs). PIPA will give the US government the right to force Internet Providers to deny access to sites violating the bill.

I'll give you an example of the consequences that will come from these bills passing.

Youtube would be shut down within days if they do not simply throw in the towel preëmptively.
ANYONE, posting pretty much anything that has any form of copyright would cause them to be liable for major legal attacks.
Posting Minecraft things would be illegal. Golden Sun theme music uploaded /anywhere/ would be illegal. Anime episodes. Even people complaining about SOPA or PIPA would be considered illegal and I have no doubt that they could threaten Deviantart simply with this post.

Let me draw you a quote here: "The Stop Online Piracy Act helps stop the flow of revenue to rogue websites and ensures that the profits from American innovations go to American innovators."

Essentially, America is, though they would never admit it, trying to foreign economies with their laws. It is an act of selfish desire. A giant fuck you to the rest of the world in harsher words.


*Sigh* Look, I'm not good at these long drawn out explanations. Never have been. I'm more to the point, that's why I gave you those links. Especially Totalbiscuit does an AMAZING job at explaining WHY this needs our attention /NOW/.

Anyway. The fact of the matter is that if either of these bills pass the internet will never be the same. Youtube, Google, Reddit, DeviantArt, probably even Wikipedia would ALL be destroyed. The companies would be forced on their knees by the bills and the companies using those bills to sue them, resulting in bankruptcy. Nothing will be same.

We, the internet, will be silenced.

We do not matter to the US government.

They do not care.

I ask you now, MAKE them care.

I have not told this to anyone online just yet, but I have vowed to fly to America and RIOT if this goes through. I have seven friends willing to come along with me. We have warned them explicitly of our plans and we have no intentions to back down.

None of us should back down, not when our freedom is on the line.
