That was awesome! I actually saw it on Facebook too and it was really featured on that one too like it was the main picture for the album. The way I was reacting was like I won the contest hehe. It was nice honor that someone was kind enough to feature it to help give heads up about the contest. Then Bravest Warriors and Cartoon Hangover shared it! Then I saw it on Tumbler too. So cool. It made my day. But thank you for mentioning it to me :) (Smile)

i think you actually have helped me more with votes than anything! :) (Smile) but did you see that one design where it is awesome but it has a story about how if he wins he is going to give the $ to his brother to enter a writing contest?! man, how can anyone compete with that?! :D (Big Grin) am sure he is being honest but i think the story is helping a little. but it is a cool design too so you know.. :P (Lick)

Its one thing to compete with the great designs but another to compete with a story topper xD. I didn't read that one, I guess I'll have to go back and check it out. I'm sure he is honest but hopefully it's a legit writing contest you know.
Have you seen the "Bravest on the Wall" entry? :3
I kinda wonder if welovefine is like threadless where they take into account the design, votes, comments and most of all whether it would make them money or not. Or it might just be what the judges decide. One of my entries actually had more 5 votes than Bunny Ears so I was surprised by it winning. I was just happy with the idea that Pen Ward saw my art haha.

Was it the one where Jake is hugging Finn that was beating Bunny Ears? Yeah I wonder how it works. I assume account for all the other ratings too. Maybe Bunny Ears got a lot of 4s too? Do you remember how many 5 votes you had roughly? What did you get with your gift certificate too? Whoa tons of questions! hehe. No which one is the 'Bravest on the Wall' Is that one of your favs? Oh yeah, it is cool that Pen looked at everyone's work. I tried to get a sketch from him last year at Comic Con but the line got cut way before I got in line, so my goal for this years Comic Con is to get one if I go. #1 on my list! I got a couple of sketches from other artists/writers from Adventure Time. But I got to see Pen from afar :) (Smile)

I actually don't >< I think it was around 100. For the life of me I really can't remember now, I kinda feel like it may of been 88 for some reason. I just finally got the code for the gift certificate this week. They were like "Oh sorry you didn't get it sooner." I thought it was lost in the mail, it had been so long. I think I'm just going to get two of my shirts one to wear and one to frame and sign.
It's one that just has frames similar to Bunny Ears :3 It is different though they don't have the bunny ears or all of the characters just the four animals.
Ah that sucks! I hope you get it this year if you go.

oh man! i can't believe you just barely got the gift certificate! they have been selling your shirt for a while now. but that is cool you have it now and that you are going to frame one of the shirts :) (Smile) i think your design should be a print too actually! if i go to comic con, i will look to see if they are selling your shirt and take a pic if they are. they have booths there. but oh yeah now i know the design that you are talking about. yeah it totally reminded me of yours when i originally saw it. that is totally a double edge sword especially since you are a professional artist. it's nice someone most likely was inspired by or loved your design but it can be annoying too. i have seen it where someone designed a transformers design using a winning my little pony design on welovefine and the transformer design got an honorable mention and tshirt made too! i know it bugs but you are being very classy about it too. i am sure it's going to happen again because your artwork is fantastic. i hope you are able to avoid people copying or stealing your work for the most part. actually right now i am designing a couple of gravity falls using elements for well known designs. mash ups really. it's been a struggle doing it but i want to follow my instincts more too. i did that before with a couple designs that i thought of and people beat me to the punch kind of thing (i dont feel too original on that end too when someone has a similar design). so i back off and ended up submitting less of a design. so hopefully it will be ok in the end.

Yeah I don't know what happened there. I'm sure if I had said something earlier I would have gotten it then.
It would be neat if it's up at Comic con :o (Eek) I wish they would make it a print too that would be awesome! I think it might do well as a print, people have told me that they would totally buy a print of it.
I think that's how everyone progresses as designers, it's only logical to use what's working in other people's designs in your own. I think it comes down to concept and consistency to set your art apart when you do that. If you're going to use elements you have to make them better in some way. And those things come with practice.
When it comes to that design I can't be too mad because it's just like you said, I've had ideas too that if I uploaded them it would look like I was ripping someone off. I wouldn't want people to jump down my throat if they had thought I copied them, those things happen.
How are your Gravity Falls entries coming? I tried to get mine in early but I think I'll just have two this time.

now i got sick! it was horrible :P (Lick) but yeah well put about concept and consistency. i understand what you mean! i will try to let that sink in. i really want to do this x-men contest now but my prelim search for elements isnt going so well. my art skills are pretty weak too for that contest. i need to work out some sketches at least to practice even if a shirt comes out of it or not. but i like how my gravity falls shirts came out. your 2 are awesome. the fire fly one is really sweet and the sweater design is an awesome mabel shirt. i did 4 gravity falls shirts. here are the links to them so you can check em out if you have time. i think they might be my best ones so far especially the waddles one and the fight fighters donkey kong inspired one :) (Smile)

Gesh D: I heard that hellish stomach flu is going around but even other colds are no fun of course.
I bet X-Men is hard one to get ready for, have you had any luck with working on an entry for it?
I like your Gravity Falls entries as well! They all have really strong concepts! I spent the whole morning voting on all of the entries and you're are up there with the best in regards to execution and concept.
The donkey kong one was too perfect!
I like the fireflies one just because it really came together, I was able to get that contrast of in the jar and outside just right. When I started it in Illustrator I knew what I wanted but not how to get that look haha. But I wish I had put eyeballs and hints of weird things in there D: I'm almost positive that Oregon doesn't have fireflies so hopefully people see them more as something of the strange verity lol.
I'll be voting for that power ranger entry as soon as it opens for voting!

Oh, thank you so much for the kind compliments! It really means a lot. I feel like I am improving on each contest and to hear something like that from a fantastic artist (you) that I respect and that is inspiring is really awesome. Your concepts are totally creative and fun. I really do think you hit the mark about the wonderment in the jar even if there aren't fireflies in Oregon. I didn't even think of that. I thought they are discovering something cool! The contrast between the in and out of the jar is brilliant! I think you totally hit that idea out of the park. It looks so good. But thank you again especially the Donkey Kong one. I am happy about that one and it seems like people like that one the best out the designs. Even someone at welovefine was kind enough to email directly to tell me he liked that one. That was really nice of him. The voting for shirts have been off the charts though. I can't believe how high they are getting in votes already. I've done 1/2 of my record of votes in 1 day! Crazy. I have to say though there are tons of great designs for this contest. I am happy you are doing really well. I need to get in there and vote for the rest too. I voted 5s for yours btw already.
but man the x-men one is actually pretty hard and i am fan. it's been hard for me to find elements for that one. i actually did 1 that was more of a joke but the other one was really one of my favs. the sad thing i didnt read the rules. you can only use specific characters. it kind sent me in a tail spin since because both designs uses characters I can't use! trying to recover because it was sad :) (Smile) i might take a break too. but thank you for considering voting for the Power Rangers too!
