Hey there, just dropping by with some welcoming words.

Glad to see that you're liking the site. And yes, there is a lot of talent here. A huge variety of it. Unfortunately, there are also a huge variety of people, both good and bad. Some people with very little tolerance for others. This is just ageneral warning, that I think most newbies should be aware of.

Because of the sheer size of the site, sometimes the admins must make rash decisions that seem sort of inconsiderate. Just keep in mind that they are real people, and that they have real lives outside of the work they do here for FREE. Some people think that, even though devART is a free site, they deserve service and satisfaction everywhere on the site. Some people will flame others for having opinions even slightly different form theirs. And others, are just plain stupid, verbally assaulting others and in extreme cases, subverting site security to pull off some really stupid shit.

In any case, while you're here, remember that despite this vocal minority of dickheads, there is a large, but silent majority of honest-to-goodness nice people here. People who create and appreciate good art, and are willing to provide a hand if requested in endeavors artistic or otherwise.

A lot of newbies are turned off by their first negative experience at dA, and never come back. That's really unfortunate. So if you come across one of the afore-mentioned dickheads, shrug it off, AVOID the temptation to start a flame war, read the etiquette pages, and just keep on pumping out the good art. There are good times here.
