i almost forgot to say thanks for your comments on my latest deviation. i certainly do understand why you favor it over the other one, but for some odd reason i like taking over-obvious pictures, just to see if i can get a little closer to technical perfection (which i am far from btw). although, i personally prefer the more adventurous compositions, just like you do.

Thanks so much for the +fav on Beckoning Doorway .

The building is great. It doesn't look too interesting from the outside, but there is lots of light inside and the orange walls almost glow.....

I did eventually make it inside. There are lots more pictures to upload. I'm trying to get around to them all. Stay tuned....

typography books are that cheap.

that cover is a redesigned (and renamed) version of "a typographic workbook", and that is the exact price.

the missing "c" is intentional, and not a typo.

everyone was doing a black or white background (mostly black) so i chose green to be original and to break away from them. it was noticed outright when they were displayed, people were crooning about it being "good" and the like.

i think the true lesson is not to allow the extraordinary to influence the ordinary. a simple task becomes no longer when the eyes and mind are distracted.

i looked up from my work, and thought to myself "wow, swick is online! i don't think i've even seen him online at the same time as myself"

however, in looking up, i did not cease my previous action, which was sliding an exacto knife down the edge of the ruler.

needless to say, by not stopping, the blade swayed, and not only ruined a perfectly good project, but a perfectly good fingertip as well.

you're still sick? that is not cool.

the borders are overdone on this series for a reason.. the name is concisus illarum, which is latin for "ripped city". the idea is that these photos are 'ripped' out of the city itself.

you raise a good point, but don't worry, after this series the plain borders return.

I agree about the contrast... that particular shot was done with film; my scanner is terrible and I was too lazy to correct the photo digitally (as usual).
