And I read your rant. Im so glad someone else feels the same way I do, no one seems to understand. Although there was a point someone I know raised, saying "Cars are something everyday, roller coasters aren't" And I have to agree with it.
However, I would ride a roller coaster again. If The Smiler reopens, Id ride it twenty times over, just as I did the first time I went on it. This kind of thing is EXTREMELY rare, about the same chance of it happening as a plane crashing. Planes have crashed before, do people refuse to go on them ever again? Maybe for a while.
The Smiler is only 2 years old, yes it was a terrible accident, but these are teething problems. I doubt it'll be deconstructed due to how much it cost to build, and how popular it is; its the source of a lot of Altons money now, since its world famous.
And i reckon if it does open again, it'll bring in even more riders who want to say "look at how brave I am".
Im not sure whether you heard, but it was a failure in the sensors that caused the second carriage to come around. It really REALLY annoys me when people say "The staff should be arrested" because the ride is automatic. It wasnt the fault of the staff. By the time the second carriage was moving, there was little anyone could do.
I also have an OC based off of the ride, called Hito. ; w ;

Also thankyou for the information, I didn't know it was the sensors that failed. I know it'sΒ unlikely that they'll close the ride for good but there's a lot of speculation going around and I'm not sure what to believe. Β Β Β

Yeah me either. I really do hope it doesnt close. Ive only been once, it was for my birthday, and Ill tell you the truth, Id never been on a roller coaster before in my life, I was terrified (my sister dragged me on). The Smiler was my first, and Id really love to go on it again.Β
I heard someone say the whole park should shut down, which I find ridiculous. Its like saying no one should drive ever because sometimes there are crashes.
