It started with an annoying adon to FA, that a whole lot of artists whom I follow also took a great disliking to as well.
Today its more that other users have been using them as a form of harassment.
Its also the stage where, I don't care who they are, while I am watching something, I just block them.

When the prank was first pulled on the community, some of the artists on my watch list posted journal's on how upset they where with receiving a huge amount of messages, only to be badges.
No staff or admin at the time informed the community how to disable this function.
With my anxiety building up, I came up with an idea, because there was no other way to stop the spam at the time, I started blocking everyone, to date I haven't received a notice from deviantart explaining how to block or stop this spam. With having high functioning autism it isn't easy for me to break a habit.
Personally I have lost interest and block people while I'm watching a movie, TV show or while I am half a sleep. When I have gone into my account information page I am surprised to see how much my block list has grown.

What a lot of people seem to fail to realize is that they can disable badge notifications via settings. I would recommend you do that if you do not like receiving such messages.

I am aware of that option, it however doesn't disable the function.
Also it wasn't available when I made my decision.

Oh right. A few pepole I know said they were giving the badges as thank you gifts and were a bit miffed I have 12 Llama badges but they don't bother me really if I get them I get them. I just come on here to draw upload photos role play and chat. I didn't set out to get Llama badges too but guess its an extra lol
