How are you, Mrs. Jim?Β
Thanks for coming back for a visit!

Oh shit. I'm way familiar with this artist's work--I remember swooning when the Arkham Knight issue cover with Harley came out.

I really liked the "Death Vigil" series from this artist, too.Β
The interaction between the team members were a lot of fun and Death has that "no-one said I can't be cool" attitude. Besides, the main character Sam is the kind of honest, good and stubborn guy that I've come to like a lot. So... definitely recommended if you don't now about it already.Β

That... and I've been trying to track down the Justice League Dark animated movie. Because... well, John.

teasaftertaste In reply to SinistrosePhosphate [2017-06-15 14:24:35 +0000 UTC]

It's worth watching. We got it on Blu-Ray, which came with a little John figure. And they got Matt Ryan to do the voice, who played him in the short-lived CW series (which was also pretty damn good).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to teasaftertaste [2017-06-15 16:19:19 +0000 UTC]

I never got to see the CW series, but I heard that people complained it wasn't "hard" enough. And when it comes to John, you gotta hit people hard and just a little below centre-mass. But it's still sad to see the series go. I barely knew ye!

So... John in the animated movie is voiced by the same John. That's great to know.
I'll see if I can hunt this one down. If nothing else, just for the mini John figure!
Thanks for the tips!

The CW series was fun but DEFINITELY watered down, which was the problem with it being on CW. It really should have been on AMC, Scyfy, or even HBO or Starz. (Though really, AMC is doing such as killer job with Preacher, I think it would have done well there.) It took a few episodes, but it finally got its pacing and was at least enjoyable to watch. Matt Ryan is great as John though, so I'm glad he's taking over the voice acting. Later down the road CW is also doing a mini animated series for Constantine, also voiced by Ryan.

They also did a action figure of Constantine under the Arrow series because he made a few cameos on there. I bought it about a month or so ago. It comes with different hands--ones with flames, one with a lighter... it's one of the best John figures out there right now, I think.

Hey! Fancy seeing you on! How are you doing? Β
(Not working today... so catching up on things here on DA.)Β

You know... I was really sad when I found out I couldn't watch John on TV (the "no TV" bit doesn't help...), but when I started to catch bits and pieces here and there, I have to admit, I wasn't so sad anymore. It's definitely a watered-down series. I am still secretly hoping they would do another one that does John justice. They can keep Ryan, too. I like the guy! I managed to download the movie on-line (which means... no mini-figure, shucks). But it's not half bad for an animated movie at all.Β

Speaking of John-related merchandise... I saw this statue a while back.Β i.ytimg.com/vi/LA7XTnGCdEw/max… I love that one. It's even got a Matt Ryan-looking John, too. It's too bad that this specific one is huge and there's no place at home for it. If I can wrangle a space, I think there's a big possibility I am going to steal one home. In the meantime... doesn't that look just cool?Β

At the moment, not too shabby. Been binging Ash vs Evil Dead. Also cracked open some liqueurs we got from Tennessee (available only in that region). One is chocolate coffee and the other being "electric orange" (think dreamsicle).

The movie is fun. I need to rewatch it to catch all the little references. They've been doing some interesting stuff with their animated films. Can't wait to see what they do with the mini series.

Oh yeah, I think I've seen that one. Love the flames. This is the figure I bought: www.kirinhobby.com/shop/produc…

Oh, Ash vs Evil Dead! I found a website that streamed it and I was able to watch it. Unfortunately... the internet sucked like a Hoover where I used to live (Company housing and all... ) so I couldn't finish even the first season. Now that you've reminded me... I gotta get back on that! Thanks! Β

... Chocolate coffee sounds interesting. But Electric Orange doesn't quite sound as appealing. Creamsicle is just too sweet for me!Β

Wayne hasn't seen the movie yet. But I did tell him that I have it. The next time we get together, I should get him to sit down and watch it with me. It's the perfect excuse to watch it again, after all. It really was a fun movie. So... hopefully the mini-series will come out nicely as well!Β

Thanks for the link! I'll have to keep an eye out for it. One can never have too many John Constantines in his life...Β

We're on season 2, which is as delightful so far. They ham it up a bit more. I also really adore Kelly and her penchant for violence.

The creams both are really only doable in small sips. Then again. They are called "sippin' creams" (I'll attach photos in the next message as the labels are awesome).

Oh, I love Kelly. Even on her first appearance I know I am going to love her. They also played up the fact that she's Jewish, too. That was a really nice touch! Β

Never heard of "sippin' creams" before. Are you sure they can only be found in Tennessee? How unfortunate. But I would still love to see the labels nonetheless. So I will be looking forward to seeing them! Once again, thank you!Β

There's a moment in the second season where she talks about wanting a flamethrower and how fitting that is. Totally delightful. I realized the other night that Pablo looks like Luigi and now I can't unsee it.

These particular ones are only in TN and maybe a few surrounding states, as Sugarland has fairly limited licensing, though they're expanding. These are some of their newest products, so right now they're pretty hard to find outside of the state. The texture and style of the liqueurs are pretty comparable to Rumchata.

Oh, man, that's precious! I need to finish the first season first, but I am sure I'll like the second one as well!Β
... wait, now... Pablo... and Luigi? Oh my head... you're right! How can I not see it before?!

Aah... I know Rumchata. I can find those here. Hopefully Sugarland will move their products north! And you are right, the labels are really cool. I rally like the Electric Orange one! I don't think we have the same things here. But the Newfoundland brewery I used to go to have labels such as "Krooked Kod" and "Fifty shades of Bay". I think those are pretty cute!Β

It's totally the eyes and mustache. And the way he tosses Ash the chainsaw.

I'd definitely love to see more of their stuff north (and in general). I saw their apple crisp moonshine in Illinois... so they're getting some expansion (before they were just in the midsouth region). A lot of their shines are too sweet for me, but I have a soft spot for their PB&J one--grape jelly on the front, peanut on the back end breathing out. Their merch in generally is pretty sharp.Β

Speaking of sharp... look up Stillhouse whiskey. Their containers are fierce (and the liquor is super clean).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to teasaftertaste [2017-07-09 07:00:42 +0000 UTC]

Pablo makes the perfect wingman to Ash, that's for sure. And he's got the moustache, too. All he needs is a pair of green overalls!

Oh, that's nice to hear! I've always wanted to try moonshine but we can't find them here. Apple-based moonshine sounds like a great place to start (I've always like my cider strong. The stronger the better!) ... But wait, a PB&J liquor, really? I gotta look into that! Never heard of it!Β

And thanks for recommending Stillhouse, too. I just looked up their packaging. And for the packaging alone I would love to try some of that. Besides, I can always keep the bottle for something else. It's like hitting one bird with multiple stones! Thanks again! Β

It's been a little chaotic and stressful lately, but it's on the way to better things. I check in semi-regularly, so I can be reached here, or via my email, of course.Β

I was thinking of Kagrra, the other day. There is a New Japan wrestler and MMA fighter Shinsuke Nakamura who recently joined NXT and his intro music always makes me think of their work. Not to mention his outfit is very JRock-esque.

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to teasaftertaste [2016-06-24 01:55:12 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry to hear that things have been somewhat chaotic. But at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel, right? And as long as there's a light, there's hope. And that's saying something. Thanks for letting me know that I can still see you here from time to time. That's a very comforting thought!Β

I had to look up this Shinsuke Nakamura guy. You weren't joking... he's quite the show man! And I see what you mean by the outfits, too. Now, he doesn't quite remind me of Kagrra, but he does remind me of this guy:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuaki_… At 55 and already retired, Nobuaki Kakuda would be Shinsuke Nakamura's senpai. But senpai's got a set of pipes on him:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJvzFr… This type of "fighting song" sounds a bit more like the WWE's "Rising sun" for Nakamura, I think. But it's a great song regardless... loved it the first moment I heard it. So... thanks! Β

And hope to talk to you soon.Β
