# About me

In nature, being outdoors, surrounded by the elements, that's where I find most inspiration for the things I make; simply because it's the place I feel complete, energized and happy.

Since childhood I loved gemstones, rocks, minerals and shells. My grandfather joined mineral-gemstone shows with the museum of natural history, and as I visited these shows with my family, I was infected with the 'rockhound and lapidary nut' virus :-)
I love these beautiful treasures our earth provides and love to carry them with me. That's why I learnt myself how to carve and drill amber, bone and wood; and later learnt goldsmith techniques to make jewelry from precious metals.
It became a hobby that will last a lifetime... I love to work with natural materials: wood, leather, wool, shell, bone, metal, stone etc.

Ancient cultures and native art are another inspiration for me, like Maori art, Native American art, ancient Celtic designs, old Scandinavian/viking design, Inuit art and Saami art.
