Welcome. I was happy to give any suggestions I could.
OH, one thing I thought of after writing the crit and didn't get back to it. Have you ever tried using fine point drafting pencils? Like a 0.3 lead size. I use those for my very fine details where a thick line would just cause to much. I also highly recommend using various sized leads. (That is if you go drafting pencil, mechanical pencil.) If you're using mainly colored and standard number 2... uh... well no suggestion other than keeping a nice fine point most of the time. Anyway thought I'd suggest.

i appreciate you looking at my gallery, and moreso the crit. i feel criticism is lacking on this site, and i think it helps one's growth more than praise does.
i completely understand and more or less agree with your observations; and i'm not making excuses, but i don't like to do too much afterwork on a photo. i know i'm a long way from being where i want to be as a photographer, but until i get a better camera, i'll probably pretty much leave my shots as they are. i will certainly keep it in mind while shooting, though.
i do pride myself on my sense of composition, so thank you for noticing that.
again, your comments are very much appreciated - we all need more people like you who take the time to verbalize such observations.
and just incase you're wondering - i'd be glad to return the favour, but i'm honestly not a fan of your particular genre, so i wouldn't be much help. no offense.

I'm glad you appreciated my view and crit. I do my best to try and give people critiques, as it's the only way I know to help people improve.
I fully get what you mean by waiting till you have a better camera. Often that's really what is needed, or so I've been told. If you develop your own images the touchup afterwards is even less needed. (I never got the handle of doing my own photos, it was a concept that for some reason I just couldn't grasp.) I think as long as you keep it in mind you can still get great images, you have them already. It's just a minor thing what I mentioned, though if rectified would most definetly make the pieces stand out more. So I'm glad you were appreciative of my comments.
As for not being a fan of my work, eh it happens. To each their own. I personally hate pablo picasso and think Andy Warhol was a hack, it's all taste, that's what makes art so beautiful. So no I took no offense, how could I take offense on a truthful statement. It wasn't like you tore down my images saying I had no tallent and what I did was worthless. (I've had that before... in 6th grade... man is it hurtful.) One hint, if you aren't a fan of a genre or know anything about the grenre/medium just use what you do know and apply it where applicable. For instance, I don't now photography well, however I know contrast, color and composition.
Okay, one last thing. What kind of Genre am I? I've been wondering that. I keep getting different answers.

i wasn't saying that specifically about your work, i just meant the style in general. i only used the word 'genre' because i couldn't think of a better way to put it. you're obviously working in several differrent areas, which is always a good thing, but i'm usually drawn to photography, traditional painting and architecture. so any sort of comparitive crit is kinda out of my reach. i suppose i'd call you a general graphic artist (?).
and i agree with you on warhol... not so much picasso. don't even get me started on mondrian.
and as crap as one person may think something is, there's no such thing as worthless art.

Ah okay, thanks for clearing that up. And as you said Genre I didn't take it as my specific work, but the over all type. But as I said thanks for clearing that up.
Keep up the good work.

When you go to somebody's page. Up where it has their name, gender, and all things like that. There is a little list. It will say "General" "Gallery" and so on. The VERY last one is "DeviantWatch." All you do is click that and ther eyou go, you put a watch on that person. As for Favorites, I noticed you figured tha tone out. You just click the button under the image that has a + and a Star. Looks lkind of like though not in color.

I like free hand, it's what I'm used to. What I started with. And I agree with Pixar in that knowing free hand lets me make some pretty damn good 3D models.
