Currently, since at least 2006, I'm running exclusively Arch but I did use Gentoo for a couple of years. It's a great distro, however I had to give it up, because I couldn't afford to spend time to manage all the build options and building/re-building packages anymore. As a result I moved to Arch. I was aiming for speed, customizability and as little “mandatory” default software as possible. Let me just say: I'm not disappointed :}
