# About me

ModelMayhem | The Crump Effect Fanpage | Twitter | FACEBOOK | Crump Effect on Youtube

I have been in the creative industry most of my life and involved with photography and other elements for several years now. Recently, I have chosen to focus on some new types of created images. I am going to be working on images of inspiration, love, compassion, imagination, heart, feeling and exploring emotion and the human condition.

I feel it is important as an artist to embrace things about the world and express ones perceptions and project it in visuals. Sometimes not even interpreting but redefining an image to provoke thought. I want to be an artist that does not necessarily tell others what to think but rather inspires to think and think for themselves or as a community.

If you are a model, actor, talent or just a creative soul that wants to inspire others, bring something new to the table and explore what it is to be human, an artist, a muse and a inspiration to others, then I want to work with you. Curious? Let me know your thoughts.

From classy family portraits to out of this world headshots, Bryan Crump can do it all. Driven by an overwhelming desire to express creativity, Bryan’s art is original and dramatic. With inspiration extracted from the world around him, the vibrant colors in a sunset could set Bryan’s heart towards a magnificent dreamscape filled with beings belonging in fairytales. Even a bowl of cold breakfast cereal might spark wonders in the mind of this artist. “I just want to inspire and leave people in wonder.” was Crump’s answer after being asked about how he wanted to be taken as an professional.

Although Bryan received technical training from a variety of different establishments, including Rose State College, Northern Ok College's MMDC Program, and service in the Army, his craft is primarily self-taught. Bryan Crump’s range of talents include the simplest editing and correction to elaborate modifications, effects and illustration; his skills with a camera are limitless.
“[Bryan] is so much fun to work with. As soon as you meet him you know he’s serious about his projects, but his sense of humor makes everything relaxed. He’s brilliant, there’s no other way to describe him.” Local model Lydia Nova said in response when asked about working with Crump. With over ten years experience with graphic design, Bryan is notably a dedicated artist. Having been featured on the cover of Oklahoma’s Nonzine magazine in March of 2006 and also the cover of the May 9th, 2002 Sunday edition The Los Angeles Daily News for his body painting works, Bryan Crump’s efforts to establish himself as a talented and innovative artisan have not been left unnoticed. Bryan's work is also featured in Distinctly Oklahoma magazine's Jully 2008 issue.

Artist Statement

I like to inspire creativity and vision in others. When is comes to my work, there is always a storm of ideas that I weed through to get the best.

Starting out as an artist of pencil and paper, I worked up to painting and that eventually brought me to photography. Now I merge all of my skills as an artist to create vivid dreamscapes and enchanting portraits.

I am currently working on developing workshops and a few publications. One of my goals is to establish better networking between creative individuals, models, photographers, artists, etc.

I was recently introduced to HDR photography and have been dabbling with experimentation and techniques to get varied results for portraiture and commercial use. Bridal and Fashion photography remain some of my favorite subjects.

You are very welcome Hollee-McNamara , will be following your work. Have you been in any competitions with your makeup yet? Been a bit since I have been on deviant, trying to get more active again since I am finally past my creative block.

I'm so glad to hear! No I haven't had any competitions with make-up, I entered one a while back on dA with one of my pieces but it wasn't make-up oriented. Your body art is incredible! glad to hear you're past your creative block and hope to see some more work from you soon also.

Hollee-McNamara , Entering competitions can be fun, even if you are not there. Once I entered one of my pieces into a competition, but got so busy that I forgot I had submitted it, then the next thing I knew I got a check in the mail for winning second place. You never know what you can achieve or what rewards you can reap until you get your work out there for sure.

Hope you are doing well and staying productive. I just finished another photoshoot yesterday. Hoping to get several more with this new camera my friend is letting me borrow as I will be able to do a lot more with it than I have been able to do previously.

What projects are you working on?

That's cool, congratulations on second place! I may look into entering competitions just for the hell of it. Like you said, you never know.
Hope your photoshoot went well!
I haven't been working on photographical work lately really, I've turned my attention to drawing and digital art of late.

Awesome. We are lucky to live in an age with so much access to inspiration across the world. Here on deviantart, youtube for tutorial videos, and so many more places. I have been a part of a few art groups and thinking about starting my own around here again to get people to come together, draw and have fun. What is your normal routine? Sometimes I do better at home, but getting out really helps me get out of my shell too. Painting I have done better around people in the past, but I think thats because I got used to body painting. I want to be more active.

Hollee-McNamara In reply to thebryancrump [2014-05-22 13:19:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, indeed it is a great help having so much inspiration at hand. Youtube has been helping me lots with digital painting techniques.
I don't have a routine, so to speak - but I find I cannot draw around people. I work so much better in solidarity! Perhaps if it was life drawing in the street I'd be okay. If there is conversation expected of me then I am useless.
Your body painting is so good! How do you find your inspiration?

thebryancrump In reply to Hollee-McNamara [2014-05-23 16:44:35 +0000 UTC]

It's weird for me, sometimes I work better alone but most the time when I really connect to source, it's when I am painting people. If they have a good personality and we connect well, I can paint for hours. So far the longest stretch I have done at one time is about 16 hours of painting. Had to keep reminded to drink water and eat, lol.

I get inspiration from everywhere really, that's why it can be so hard for me to focus. It's like ooh squirrel, lol. But I have gotten much better at taking an idea and working it to completion now.

I have been studying the works and notes of some of the old masters. I have a book called "How to Think Like 'Da Vinci' and many others on different artists, leaders, scientists, inventors that I read. I used to read a lot of sci/fi fantasy but trying to be as productive as possible and help inspire people so I have been learning more about success, motivation, business, psychology, philosophy, etc. I made a promise years ago to one of my mentors to be a lifelong learner.

I am actually working on a book right now to help artists, models, photographers, and anyone in the creative fields to find their path, resources, mentors and opportunities. Much of what I have achieved is just being somewhere and often times putting my foot in the wrong door at the right now. Places people would not expect an artist to be needed but when you are around all of a sudden they are like WE NEED YOU!!! So keep doing what you love, be your best at it and share, teach, inspire!!!

Wow 16 hours is a long time for painting! I can't do more than a couple of hours (sometimes even less) because my eyes start to go blurry and if I persist then I get headaches and can't see anything for hours so it sucks! I know it's eye strain perhaps caused by low lighting or the fact I don't draw at a desk and it being a level surface but yeah. I wish I could work for longer sometimes. Luckily I don't get the same effect with digital paintings.

That's cool, it is interesting to research the greats and take inspiration from them, I recent went to the Van Gogh museum in the Dam and it really inspired me to try different techniques in my artwork.
Being a lifelong learner is a big part of what life's about, right?

That's nice, it's a good thought to pass on your own knowledge and experiences to other artists, you may offer a perspective they haven't considered before. I wish you all the best with it!

Teaching is a good way to learn because students may ask questions that we don't or may not have thought of yet. I like to take my notebooks with me everywhere as I never know what I might learn or what kind of inspiration I might get.

Everyone has their preferences, techniques and unique intuition. Art is a wonderful moving, living thing. Just stay true to your passion and creativity and you will go far.
