velvecat you are so sweet for remembering me. Well things as you probably Know are pretty bad here at Greece with the economic, this alone scared me away from art.

I concetrated more on my proffession, I am a lawyer by the way. And filled painting on my "dead dream" selve. Lol.

But I feel starving lately for some art and I decided to give it a serious try, once again, I still want to become a pro painter. I guess the whole situation greatly discouraged me.

Of course law profession has not be unaffected, we have see work decrease down to 50%. So the question that arose was was , if making money as a lawyer is hard , how hard would it be for an artist ?

But I start understand lately that painting become more a need for me. During summer I did alot of pencil work , so I am still flirting with it. But I decided what the hell I will give it a serious try and if I fail at it , I fail. I still have my regular work.

So I will updating my gallery soon. And if one day I will make it , I would have to thank people like your and many other who have encouraged me.

I'm so sorry about this situation in your country :/ yeah, I heard it's bad...
Economic in my country is bad too. well, now it's slowly getting better, but oh my, what was happening about a year ago.. massive number of people lost their jobs and many were even starving. Me and my family also had to put more attention to what we eat and were we spend money. If I'm right, every third person had no job. It was crazy! It's still continuing though, but it's not that bad as it was.
I really understand what you're going through, be strong! At least you have a good job, the one that is more stable then others. yeah, hard to imagine what artists are going through, even here artists have no chance to find success. I'm planing to leave my country after few months, once I'm done with studies. I got no future here so far.. Of course, finding a job elsewhere isn't that easy too, but at least I have a bigger chance and literally, a possibility to find one.
I can't wait to see some of your art. It's hard to create it when situation around you is bad, but let it be an inspiration for you, maybe it will give you some ideas what to create. you can always find positive in negative!

Absolutely. I would just loooove to be a pro painter one day. Its my dream. Its not easy at all to return 20:00 home from work and be in the mood to paint seriously. But I will have to find a way to do it I guess, there is no easy way of achieving anything in life.

I will be releasing new art soon, for the time being I just sketch alot and practice, because as noob I need to cover alot of ground.

Velvecat I was wondering, why dont you search work online, I know alot of artist that work online freelancing. Actually most of them work like this. Maybe this way you wont have to leave your family.

This is the way I intend to work as well. My plan is to reduce slowly the hours I spend on law , when my artistic skill reaches a certainl level and take jobs online . If and when I see that I make serious money out of art, then I will completely abandon law. So it is going to be a slow transitional thing for me.

I hope that in 5 years, I will become a pro artist, meaning that I will start searching for work online. If I manage to find work and make some money out of it , I will reduce the time I spend on practicing law. If I dont make it I can always be a lawyer, but chances are that I will keep on trying till I die, lol.

Well with all this economical crisis I am not abandoning law. I will continue parctise law and learn painting at the same time. Whether I will turn to painting professionaly that will depend how good I will become and how much people will love my art.

But even then , I am not going to abandon law unless I make some serious money from my art. So at the moment I have something ecure and I am aiming for something more enjoyable.

At least for the next 5 years I see my self as a full time lawyer. After that I hope to start practising painting professionally.

So for the time being I just take it step by step. And we will see what the tommorow will bring

My watch is not accident I was inspired by your post on IMAGINEFX about that age is not an issue when someone decides to be an artist. I am a 30 year old lawyer trying to become a full time pro artist ( a decision I made this week) , so your words inspired me , as does your art.

Yeah, well we're pretty much told otherwise at school and stuff, do what's practical, not what you love. But meh, didn't realise til my late 20s what's important in life, and I think that's pretty normal - from people I know - kinda start to ask questions at this age best of luck with it all!
