Daryl sat in a rocking chair in Alice's nursery, completely passed out. Alice was tucked into her crib, also asleep. It had been a week since they brought her home and Daryl was exhausted. After her four o'clock in the morning feeding, he sat down for a moment and ended up falling asleep.

Jayx had woken when Daryl had gone to feed Alice, but Daryl's assurance that he'd only be a few minutes had placated him enough to allow him to fall back into sleep. Now, without the weight of another in the bed, Jayx awoke. He blinked in the darkness for a while, remembering where exactly Daryl had gone. He stood up, clad only in his boxers, and padded down to Alice's nursery. He peeked inside and smiled. As gently as he could, he lifted Daryl in his arms like a bride and carried him towards their bedroom.

Daryl nuzzled the other's chest in his sleep, curling in his arms. He remained asleep as Jayx carried him out of the room and into their bedroom.

Jayx gently laid Daryl down on the bed, wrapping the blankets around him. He laid down beside his lover, folding his hands over his chest and staring at the ceiling. Eventually, sleep reclaimed him.

Daryl woke up as the orange sunrise seeped through their open curtains. He turned to see Jayx still asleep beside him before turning again to check the time. It was almost nine in the morning, Alice was supposed to be fed an hour ago. Daryl slipped out of bed, trying not to disturb the other, and tip-toed to the kitchen to prepare a bottle.

Jayx stretched, once again disturbed by the overwhelming loss of his husband at his side. He rolled onto his feet and padded down the hall, almost silent. He sneaked into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Daryl's waist, his hand raising to brush the scar against the smaller boy's chest. He loved to kiss that spot, in hopes that Daryl would know how much he cared, how much he wished he could take that scar away.

Daryl jumped slightly when he felt Jayx's arms begin to wrap around him, but he quickly realized it was his husband. He relaxed against the other and smiled. The microwave timer went off and Daryl took out the bottle testing it on his arm before slipping from Jayx's arms. "I have to feed the baby." He leaned up and gave him a kiss before heading to Alice's room. Creeping slowly over to the baby, he scooped her into his arms and sat in the chair in the corner of the room before beginning to feed her.

Jayx grumbled slightly and followed Daryl, mad at being left with just that. But when he saw Alice, he didn't care anymore. He sat in front of the chair and hummed lightly. Suddenly, he had an idea. He ran out to his car and retrieved his acoustic, sitting down with it cradled in his lap. He gently began picking a gently lullaby, the music flowing from his fingers. He snag along gently, a song about a flowing world where nothing made sense. Lyrically, it wasn't too nice, but it had a smooth sound, and Jayx reminded himself to write it down for later.

Daryl smiled as Jayx sang to Alice. Alice drank nearly all of her bottle before falling back asleep, the mix of soft music and warm formula causing her to become sleepy once again. He set the bottle on her changing table and stood slowly, as to not disturb the sleeping baby sleeping in his arms. He carefully settled her into her crib and covered her in a soft blanket Daryl stood there watching her for a moment, a smile crept onto his face and he leaned down, kissing her head.

Jayx grinned as he watched Daryl. He walked behind him and wrapped his arms around around his lover's body, right at the bottom of his ribcage. His hands were up, gently holding Daryl's chest and pushing him back gently against his own chest. He nipped at Daryl's ear with a Cheshire grin and whispered in his ear.
"You make a great mommy, Daryl."
He kissed Daryl's cheek gently, squeezing him equally as gently.

Daryl smiled and leaned against Jayx, watching Alice's tiny chest rise and fall in a steady motion as she slept. He felt so wonderful, so complete. This was his family. These were the people he loved the most in this world. It filled him with such an amazing sort of feeling. He turned around and slipped his arms around Jayx's neck, smiling softly and kissing him.
