I've been enjoying your stories and drawings since I found you on Tumblr (couldn't comment there, no account). Well, except maybe The Tale of the Lorax. I mean it's well written and everything, it's just a bit too depressing for me. It was still good enough for me to bookmark it though. I especially love In Our Autumn Years and Family Tree.
Anyway, I was wondering if you could do an Epilogue to your In Our Autumn Years story where Norma, Helen, Ted and Audrey meet Lorax for the first time. I always enjoy seeing other people's perspective on how Ted and Audrey meet Lorax. It's only a request, so you don't have to, but I would love to read it if you do it.

Question; what do you think the Once-ler's mom's name is? I've read different things online, and I really want to write a short bit about her and Once-ler's dad, but I don't want to just pull her name out of nowhere.

I've chosen the name Henrietta, personally. It's a bit of a further nod to Dr. Seuss since his mother's name was that and in a stark contrast because she was very supportive of hers on, meanwhile Once-ler's mother is not.
Also for me the name goes well with Griselda, two very old sounding names, since in my head the two are paternal twins which goes to further explain why she would have twins Brett and Chet since the genetic link for twins were already in her genes.

I just want to know how get your ideas. Are they based off other stories you've read or are they from your own head? My other question is, what advice would you give for someone who is writing their first fan fiction? *cough cough me cough*

95% of my ideas are my own; my imagination is a very vast, scary place and I get ideas practically every day in regards to stories I'm either writing, or will write eventually. The other five percent are influenced by fanart, or music. Sometimes if a drawing is that striking and memorable to me I'll want to write up a story around it, but I always ask first in case the artist doesn't want that to happen.
As for starting out with your first fanfic first, good luck! Writing is a great way to get your ideas out into the world, pairings you may support, or just silly situation you could have in your head.
Re-read your work, that's a good thing to do. Even read out loud what you've written to see if the words flow nicely. Use spell check and grammar checkers, or even better give it to a close friend to read and check over because you may miss a little slip up like I have in the past.
Try not to be influenced by other writers, either. It's good to take inspiration, but try to find your own writing style; but that's just what fanfiction is about if you ask me. It's about finding your own footing, your own way of writing. Some people are overly descriptive, others give little details. I like to think I'm a middle ground; I don't overwhelm the readers with small details but I set the mood and the place well enough for them to know where we are, and what's happening.
But the most important thing to do is to have fun, and do not push your writing. If you need to force yourself, it won't be a good story. Let it come to you naturally, and writing will be a fun experience for you.
